Hey guys and girls, I've been having some issues with verification through ibjjf for my second degree. I would love it if I could get some votes on my profile. I'm trying to verify some of my black belt students, we have been having some trouble with the Australian Federation.

I can assure you that nothing that transpires on this site will have any effect at all on your ibjjf status.

We have an Australian federation AFBJJ that won't recognise my second stripe, just trying to get some more evidence for that.

Like Robert said, no matter what you do, even here, would not have any affect on the IBJJF/Australias IBJJF. They're stuck in their ways. Is your professor that promoted you certified? Do you have enough time under them with a membership at your first degree?

I'm going to have to wait 10 months untill my second degree is approved by IBJJF. Such a backwards organisation, I'm hoping that one day they collapse and black belt checker becomes the new standard. Unfortunately I had a falling out with my old coach , my membership lapsed for two years during that time period , there is nothing I can do about it now, we just need someone to buy ibjjf and reform it

They count the years you've paid them, that's all a degree is to them.
Time in rank for the IBJJF is based off your first initial membership, application approval with them. So you could have a year where you didn't have a membership active and still the years at rank are still being counted.

I'm a year behind with a IBJJF on my 4thdegree according to their records. You're not alone in this boat. Manny share the same issues that you are having with the IBJJF.

It's definitely not based of first initial membership, mine was in October 2015 , I have requested multiple times , and offered to pay membership fees retrospectively, but it was still denied

Then I would definitely contact them and dispute it.

They told me that the years my membership lapsed do not count towards promotion times.

I offered to pay up the years I missed and they told me that it is not possible.

Makes no sense

I registered the day after I got promoted in 2009.
My membership did not become "active" until 2010 which is another thing that bugs me.
This is their answer when I asked about my promotion times and membership.

Interesting. Not what I was told. I'll try to find the email they sent me where they say that.

Yes please do because it is very frustrating dealing with that organization.

I know several people who have been told this personally. Do you think there's a chance they have different requirements inside the USA vs elsewhere? My Canadian BB friends have had the same experience with years they hadn't paid not being recognized.

I just emailed them to see if their policy has changed.

Yes, please let me know what they say. I'll try to look for the email at the same time. I am 99.9% positive that is based off the initial membership for your time at rank. It doesn't matter if you missed a year or not of membership. I only say this because I had to go back-and-forth with the IBJJF for a very long time in the process of getting my blacked belt certification with the IBJJF. So I have a lot of emails to sift through to find that email. But if you get a response from them before hand, please let us know.

Just got a response from the infamous Timmy at IBJJF. Not happy about it. Makes no sense to me.
Wow! That's ridiculous! I could have sworn it didn't matter.

It should not matter. It seems like a flex to me. Just because they can type of nonsense.

Just having received my black belt I was wondering if I should register with IBJJF... I guess there is no way around it. I never paid them for my brown belt though... I hope it's not a big deal.

If you didn't have a membership prior to your black belt, you'll be on a probation period.

Beltchecker verification > IBJJF verification anyway
I agree to that statement! On that note... would you mind taking a look at my profile for verificatio? :D
