I’ve been a black belt for over a year now!
Unfortunately my Promoting Instructor hasn’t updated his profile on here

He is a 2nd Degree Black belt under Brooklyn MA under Prof Peter Lawson 5th Degree under Prof Renzo
He even even signed my Certification

As I wrote on my vote:
"Your promoting instructor is clearly only a 1:st degree BB, as that's what he's wearing on your promotion photos. And your certificate says it's the second person he has promoted. If Daylon wants his promotees to be widely recognized in the community, he should first make sure to get his 2:nd degree BB, which for my part can even be through making a time served claim on Beltchecker. Promoting students while wearing a 1:st degree BB is really a disservice and so very much unnecessary when a 2:nd degree is so close at hand."

According to Daylon Semper's own Beltchecker profile he would be a 2nd degree based on time spent at BB when he promoted Kai.

He is wearing a first degree BB on the promotion pic and that's what he says he is on his profile. So very sloppy, if not even disrespectful to your student, to promote to BB without first securing the 2:nd degree. And you should also be concerned as the promotee, making sure you get the promotion from someone who has the degree which will make your promotion universally recognized.

Considering Daylon has his own Beltchecker profile (even with enough evidence that I have verified his BB) and claiming a (seemingly universally recognized) 2:nd degree BB here really would just had taken minutes and is totally free. He wouldn't need to go through with any of that IBJJF money grab nonsense for getting his degree.

But I also see that Daylon's own instructor Peter Lawson has signed the diploma as "Witness". If he was there as a witness, why didn't he promote Daylon in person to 2:nd degree BB before Daylon promoted Kai? Didn't he want Daylon to have a 2:nd degree? Wasn't there any tape around? Was he actually not a witness, even if he put his signature on that he was? How can we even be sure that the diploma and pics are not from 2024 or earlier (with Daylon definitively not being a >2:nd degree BB), as the diploma only says date and not year?

You should really be getting things together along the lineage and I don't think it's favorable in the long run even for Kai, Daylon and Peter themselves to have promotions recognized when ignoring the formal requirements that should be in place prior.

I'm not an adherent to the 2nd degree black belt "requirement", but some observations about your lineage are suspect and are going to cause you problems with those who are strict about the 2nd degree "requirement". Your professor lists his black belt date on here as June 28, 2019 and his first degree as July 14, 2022. Those dates would have made him eligible for his second degree the week prior to your promotion and everything would be hunkydorry. But Brooklyn Martial Arts says he didn't get his black belt until August 18, 2019, which makes it impossible for him to have been eligible for his 2nd degree at your promotion. If for no other reason than clarity this could be cleaned up and remove some question marks about your lineage.

I am not trying to argue with you, but really trying to understand your logic here. Is it your position that since Daylon did not update his profile that he's not a 2nd degree, or that since he's not wearing a belt with 2 stripes he's not a 2nd degree? When I look at Kai's promotion pictures to me it looks like Daylon's belt has 2 stripes really close together - if that's not the case then that's one big ass single stripe.

You obviously accept and have voted for "time served" stripes so its an interesting conundrum that you would dispute it just because Daylon hasn't added the stripe to his belt himself (if that's actually a one stripe belt).

Peter Lawson's Instagram page shows Daylon getting his first stripe on July 15, 2022 - so I am sure his profile information is accurate. That gives him enough time to be a 2nd degree by Kai's promotion.

But it does not show him getting 2:nd degree, does it? Daylon neither updated his profile nor his belt and there is no indications in what manner he would have gotten a second degree, if at all. I accept time-served-stripes, but you then have to commit to them if you need them to promote someone. Which you don't do if you neither put them on your belt nor on Beltchecker. Also, I think that should be up to Kai and Daylon to clear up.

But he wasn't eligible for that first stripe until August per their previous social media posts.
