If a picture is all it takes what stopping someone with out affiliation and lineage putting on a gi and a black belt starting an academy and promoting people?
I think lineage should be a requirement or at least a link to a black belt?

If by “lineage” you mean proof of who promoted you, this is already possible since you can “tag” a profile in your promotion history and this person can confirm or reject it.
But to make a mandatory lineage field wouldn’t make much sense since it’s impossible to verify, unless every single instructor in the world is on beltchecker.
And not everyone has an affiliation, so wouldn’t make sense to require that either.

But at the end or the day, the community decides through voting what their criteria for verification will be. If enough people decide that lineage and affiliation should be required, then that will be the law of the land here :) (just like filling out a complete promotion history has become)

Ok makes sense. But I do think that it should go deeper than just who promoted you but who premoted them.
It's also nice to be able to trace back to the masters and see that on your profile.
