Hi, just wondering if anyone here use the app “Marune”

I’m using it along with my 10 year old son as a fun way to log Martial Art activities.

But I’m the only one that I know personally that use it.

If you use it, what is your experience and benefits?

Yes I like it as well. There is so many possibilities. I really enjoy to look back at the early promotions and competitions to my son. With pictures from he was a 2 year old at the peewee Judo and a big boy at 10 to day. It makes all kind of statistics of competitions and timelines of belt promotions.

Yes I use it and its a good way to make myself accountable and as consistent as possible.

Typing up notes from training on a mobile keyboard is a pain though so Im not really using the wiki section.

Oh man, i had been using this fairly regularly, then swapped phones and forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder to reinstall.

I use the app to provide an overview of how my training volume is for the month.

I find it motivates me to get on the mats more if the numbers are low.

Wish I knew about this sooner. I’ve been using a physical book...... haha. Feel like I need to fill out out completely now that I started it.

I have used it as a data-tracker since my first trial class. I log attendance, BJJ techniques and sequences that I learned in class or seminars, and submissions that I finished in sparring. I log belt promotions, and competitions too. I wish there were better differentiation between arts: due to this fact I do not log my Judo training using the same tool. Data is just for me.

I think it’s fantastic for logging different styles. I’m doing judo in another club every Monday evening. BJJ at morning, lunch or late evening depending on my shifts at work. Then it’s Taekwon-Do every Tuesday and Thursday so the possibility to track everything at one app is just so cool.

Interesting! I would be more willing to track multiple styles, were it indeed possible to select each individually in order to compare 'total' training time for each (i.e. BJJ vs. Judo). I would like to see the belt promotions reflect each style rather than combining them too. I was also quite meticulous with logging BJJ classes in succession. I dread back-logging all of my Judo.

I only use it as a statistical log of training time. I used to do it on a spreadsheet and using the app instead is way easier!

I currently use it to keep a track of my training volume (so I don't beat myself up too much about needing to train more). Although I think being able to separate drilling and rolling time will be interesting over time. I've found using tracking to take a long term view quite interesting and have blogged about it a little bit - https://bjjminion.com/202[...]revisited/

Wow, I’m looking forward to reading that blog. But now, off to BJJ lunch class at RGA Oslo

Hello everyone. Marune is my app. First, thank you to everyone using it and the kind words. To answer some of things brought up. The ability to track multiple arts, including belt promotions is coming. Also, a web version is in the works. This will not only allow you to use a full sized keyboard to write notes, but it will allow you to upload and download your data files. And we'll be expanding the personal wiki to include video and incorporate other peoples notes and pics/video into your library. The roadmap of new features will take us through the middle of next year at least, so keep checking on it. One final thing. If anyone has any ideas of new features, or improvements please let me know. I want this to be a useful tool for the community.

I love the Marune app. It has really helped me to stay accountable regarding how much training I'm getting every week. Anyone who wants to friend request me, feel free!

Matt Guyer, the ability to import/export data should be coming out later this year. Stay tuned!
Nice. I think in the meantime my solution is to just use both apps.

I like it and the fact the it is continually developing. My biggest issue is there is no way to input previous training records. I was keeping a handwritten journal but the only way to put the hours in is to manually input each day. Not sure how the flow chart for training works. I just have to remember to input each training and you can be as specific or simple as you like.

Great app. Is there a way to upload past training? Thank you
