I understand the frustration and upset for IBJJF actions, but this kind of actions doesn’t help either. It just shows stupity. Like it or not most of the competitions world wide are organised by IBJJF and bulling them or vandalising wikipedia is just childish and stupid. Lets behave like grown ups. We need to rather try to build and change something than destroy relationships, no matter how infectioned they might be at the moment. Timmy is naturally exsepion:)

I agree. Taking the high road is always best practice.

I've not been a fan of IBJJF for a while, mainly because I'm a grappler with a love for leglocks and I feel IBJJF is behind in terms of keeping up with the sport. That being said, trolling and negative behavior will not elevate the sport further.

Let them oldschool, conservative minded organisations stay in history, while we pave the way to a bright and innovative future.

I think there is a pent up frustration as the IBJJF charges a lot of money for everything they do and does not treat their customers, the competitors, coaches and schools with respect.. I have noticed the SJJIF is growing due to little things they do letting Black Belts compete for free, and treating people well and having clear cut concise rules that apply to everyone.

Funny thing is I joined here to show support for the organization after the IBBJF banning

That's the issue though; it's not a true federation; it's a profit-driven corporation. The only problem is that right now IBJJF doesn't view us as paying customers, but more as the governed "my way or the highway, take it."

I think they need a wake up call. Respectful dialogue only works when respect is a two way street and their actions have indicated they view as governed consumers rather than tournament customers.

Also, if I were a globetrotter team member, I'd look into seeing if there is a class action lawsuit there. From my understanding, IBJJF took their money and hasn't refunded it. Given that people travel to these events, that's an additional chunk of money spent on the premise that they were traveling for this product that IBJJF rescinded.

If there is money in membership fees etc that isnt being returned, then they most likely have grounds fro a class action case.

They didn't cancel registrations, only stopped new ones, and this is the reason why. They aren't about to provide refunds, so they'd rather keep the money and let the problem go away over the next year. Which honestly is fair.

But if i paid registration, then found out they decided to ban me for something like this, then they're still effectively stealing right? A better approach would have been to allow those registered to finish that competition year, but not be able to re register the following

Nothing quite like hearing that your belt is validated enough _this_ year because you signed up early, but next year it will be invalidated.

To me, this pretty much cements in that they are doing this as a retaliation, not out of legitimate concern.

This is exactly what they're doing, though :)

which part? letting you finish the year out, or just taking the money?
Chance, the IBJJF are doing exactly what you suggest. They are letting those already registered to remain registered. It is only new registrations or renewals that are being rejected.

Actually you can still register until your current membership expires. But if you get promoted or once your membership runs out then your SOL and have to join under a new academy as your not able to renew or start a new membership.

I might go to the one in Atlanta just so I can wear my Globetrotter Gi and there's nothing they can do about it except say that it somehow failed inspection. lol

Put a Globetrotter patch on every ibjjf approved location of your gi.
