EDIT: It was an error on my end.
About once a week I like to log in and search my home state (North Carolina) to see if people I know have joined the site. When I search Only two results come up but I know there are numerous other profiles that have it listed as their state. This didn't use to be the case and I know the missing profiles in question are still active. The website is great and I love our community here, but a long term project could probably be making the search function pull correctly, or a people in my area button or feature so its easier for people to look for those close to them to verify profiles.

I just searched North Carolina and 44 results came up. This maybe user error?

Thanks! I just reset my browser and the same 44 showed up when I searched via state. Sorry for the confusion.

Correct that the general search field didn't look in the state column. Being European, this was not on my mind, but I have added it. If you used the "state" search field, it would have worked :)
You can also go to your profile and click on your country, state, city, academy, affiliation etc. and it will run a search of that :)
