I was a very active kickboxer and MMA fighter for years and came back to compete in grappling again at 52 after winning a battle with cancer... I have competed a since 52 with over 250 matches..
My high and low points in the comeback came at the same event.. I was competing against a really big guy Morgan Mainze at Submission Underground 3 and completely dislocated my shoulder finishing off an old injury.. Doctors say I need shoulder replacement but I am ignoring them because it is over a year layoff and the prognosis for coming back from complete replacement is not good I pan on getting it fixed when I can't compete anymore..
I was so depressed after the event it was crazy as I thought I may be done and it took me over an hour to get out of the building with people wanting to talk and take pictures with me ant tell them how I inspired them and how much it motivated them to do something... Imagine being told doing what you love and having fun helps others it was such a cool feeling..
Got 3 clips from the event..

The interview was cool and he is actually a good guy he came down and checked on me afterward and asked if I wanted to hang out that night unfortunatly I couldn't but he took the time to call and check on me a couple days later

You look better in your 50s than most people do in their 20s!

Well you're doing something right. I'm not vegan but do eat a very strict diet in the sense of no processed foods, no refined sugar, intermittent fasting, very little alcohol etc. Most my wins can be attributed to that lifestyle and the fact that a lot of people in masters let themselves go

As someone who has also had a bad shoulder dislocation, that video was hard to watch.
Much respect for competing at 52 after kicking cancer's ass.
