Just wondering others thoughts when a kid gets a yellow belt, should I take the grey belt, that I bought and gave them, so I have one for a future white belt due for promotional or.... let them keep it and buy a fresh new one for the next student as well.

New.belts are nice... Kids don’t want to collect belts like adults.... do they? What about reduce reuse recycle? What’s your opinion.

We give them the belts and collect their previous ones. In this way parents don’t need to pay relatively often for a belt (with adults you only have a few). We do have the option though that when kids do want to keep it, parents can buy that belt for a small fee.

Kids will collect anything if you let them. We give new belts, no extra charge. By the time we have a kid for a year, their monthly dues are so much more than the cost of a belt. All that being said, I think the notion of re-use on general principle would be compelling and a nice little way to participate in reducing planetary clutter.

Nah, let the kids keep their belts. Just like us adults, they'll keep them and make a display board with them and whatever medals/awards they've won competing. It's part of their journey, seeing how far they've come via promotion is a great reminder for them.

Kids belts... That's a sensitive subject. There was a big debacle at my old gym, when we didn't promote a kid for a while. The kids class coaches were all thinking that the kid didn't quite deserve it yet. He had 4 stripes already (all earned), but he had developed an attitude problem and had not made progress due to that. The kid and his parents weren't very happy. :D
