For the exceptionally well documented and well filled out profiles, the moderators can now grant a badge of excellence :) Profiles with badge will have it displayed on their profile picture as well as in achievements list. I'll also build a list of users with the badge, probably on the front page.

I think it can be a good little extra incentive to fill out profiles well and also gives us easy access to browse through the best profiles on the site.

I am personally staying out of the awarding process, but leaving it up to the moderators. FYI, their standards are exceptionally high :D

So the Mod Badge activates any special forum features? Like being able to customize your belt (the one under your profile pic) with some alphanumeric personalization?

Out of curiosity, is it only profiles that have ordered certificates that are reviewed for the moderator seal of execellence?
I imagine it makes sense that way as those profiles need to be reviewed anyway.

It activates the feeling of superiority towards all who have not earned The Badge!

Those are technically different "achievements". The rank certificate can be bought once you qualify for it, but the true Moderators' Excellence badge is purely earned. Only the latter will get you the symbol on the profile picture. (The list on the front page, however, features both.)

Webmaster's first post explains what the Mods' Badge represents, but it appears that the mods have been extremely strict (lazy?) about handing them out...

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the reply Tatu.

I assumed they were linked as the 'excellent' profiles that I've looked at also had the certificate badge.

Hence my curiousity, aside from bragging rights, what *else* is the purpose of the Mod Badge if not spur others to do a kickass, detailed, completed profile *cough* cough* (not the Rona)

Is mod badge different from mod badge of excellence?
The former would be a Forum Moderator while the latter is an award from a Moderator for having a shiny profile

It takes a lot of time and effort to keep up with everything you’ve done. I’m glad people will be recognized for it.
Thank you. I really like this site and encourage everyone I know to make a profile. For me personally it's an accountability tracker and a good knowledge/resource tool.

New moderator here. What does this mean? And can I brag about it to my friends lol
It means your profile was reviewed and deemed excellent by the moderators. "Moderators Badge of Excellence."
This is because your profile is very detailed and easy to verify.
You get a white ribbon on your profile photo. That's about it.
It does not make you a moderator though.

You're literally asking exactly what this topic is explaining if only you would scroll up a tiny bit :D
