Who's watched it and what do you think about it?

I truly loved it. I think Flo did a great job on that Doc.

So, them Pedigo folks are some tough motherfuckers aint they?

You reckon they wash their belts after every session?

What an amazing and inspirational documentary. If you haven't yet seen it, get it watched and be confident in the fact that you will feel less of a moany ass bitch once you are done with it.

There's one of their affiliate gyms like an hour from me and they keep it legit 100 degrees inside the gym and its a full on 8 minutes spar every round. The mats literally look like a swimming pool after. They call themselves the "swim team" lol as after practice you can literally lay your head back on the mat and it's like your getting baptized.

It's so damn hot I don't even feel my injuries and strains. But definitely got to be in the right mindset when I visit. It's the only place where I make sure to bring something more than just water to drink as water is not enough. lol

I get my ass kicked there more than anywhere else so have to go at least once every other month to be humbled.

They’re doing the business ain’t they! Have you met any of the guys from the documentary?

I skimmed over the first episode not sure. I'll watch the others when I have time and see what pops up.

Messaged one of the black belt coaches right after I watched it though and he said he was currently visiting that location. Not sure if those 2 brothers are on the documentary yet though as I haven't watched it all. The Murdock brothers are pretty bad ass.

it's a great documentary and Flo did a great job. You can't fight the feeling that you're going to sympathize with the fighters...they work their ass off. Nonetheless...I would not like to train in such a dojo...man it's nasty and would be afraid to catch skin diseases. They're good, some of them are real good, I doubt about hygiene, diet and "coaching" outside Dojo.

Besides that, Myao brothers were sleeping at the gym too and Gordon Ryan too when he was brown belt.

Started watching it and am enjoying what I see so far. I admire their grit and the fact that they found something constructive to do that helps them cope with their mental challenges.

1. What a wonderfully well done film.

2. How does a former laundromat NOT have proper pipes to facilitate a WASHING MACHINE?!!

3. How do those kids exist? Sponsorships?

4. Is there a particular reason why the place is so extremely run down (mats of death, holes in the roof)? I mean, just by sheer manpower alone they could probably fix it up a little. Even the guys in Project Mayhem were able to fix up that old mansion, right? Or is that my average dad perspective?

Anyway, loved it.

1. Absolutely agreed.

2. Valid point, they have access to cold water only. Maybe the washing machines used to heat up the water?

3. Donations mainly I think? I believe some of them aren’t even eligible for state benefits. A couple of them seem to have little jobs too. Their outgoings can’t be a lot? Maybe just food actually.

4. I reckon if we donated a £100K to them, they would still live like that. It’s a huge part of their personalities in my opinion.

In episode 2 before no gi worlds, Heath talked about how they had an outbreak of bad flu. I can’t help but wonder if this was covid. It seems to have happened around December 2019 and since nobody was testing and they don’t seem to go for medical attention too often, it seems possible. I lost a good 12 lbs when I had covid

I sincerely hope there won't be a lloyd irvin-esque turn in this tale...
That would require a woman actually training there, and somehow I doubt that'll ever happen lol

If you haven’t gotten to the later episodes, they have at least one woman there though I’m not sure if she trains or is the gf of one of the guys.

Same. I hope their moral compasses can remain aligned.

I watched all 5 episodes and I thought it was great. I got some things from it that many may not have. I run a small garage gym(400sqft) and I am constantly bashed on for not having a bathroom there, for the lack of cooling and heating(have a heater, but it is kinda weak), and the Spartan like conditions. I don't have a bunch of students(<35). I am currently a purple belt. And the list goes on and on. I was truly inspired by the guys, their drive, their constant grinding, making the best of what they have. That is what I got from it more than anything else. I love what they are doing, as it mirrors what I am trying to do here in my small town. It was good to see that others are doing what I have been doing for several years, and those guys are having amazing success. I know a couple of the guys that are at their gym, from a time years ago when they were at other gyms. They competed at some of the tournaments that I have competed at, though they are in different weight classes than I am.

Overall, a great documentary from Flo.

One of the guys, the Australian, mentioned in another video they only showered once a week.

One. Time. A. Week.

While training multiple times a day, in a squat.

That'll be a no for me, fam.

They going to be competing near me next week in a team 3v3 and I think individual also, I might sign up to the individual just so I can say I got my ass kicked by one of them lol
Last time they did the nuway tournament in Gatlinburg they only had one other blue belt and no higher ranks competing in the gi and was boring just getting 2 matches, so this time I am hoping more higher belts will be signed up including them. It's kind of exciting knowing your going to get your ass kicked...just not knowing by what method.

I think I speak for the rest of us, that were are all expecting a humble brag video of you lasting a bit longer than expected against those beasts. Maybe even including a shot of you casually fixing your hair whilst being under side control.

You getting your ass kicked in this case is good for the rest of us. Basically what I think (hope) is gonna happen is that after the match you'll move to Mount Vermont to train full time and start a blog. This for me is the best scenario since I'm so fascinated about these dudes and just cannot get enough from Daisy Fresh!

lmao I am sure they could all surf on top of me with no effort. I doubt their is any scenario where I would be able to make the videos look good against them. lol The guys that I train with every once in a while that are under the pedigo umbrella are only like 170 pounds and they just destroy me. They never get tired. They train in a literal 100 degrees on purpose and do like ten 8 minute rounds back to back.

I just hope people will actually sign up. I hate signing up to tournaments where you can't see a list of everyone that is signed up and for what divisions. They always do that when they don't have that many people signed up to the event.

Traveling and paying for a tournament and then showing up and them being like hey we got a couple white belts you can face is bs. But at least it's in a decently entertaining city where there's some other stuff to do so I will Prob go anyways and you can check my updated comp record and see my new losses lol

Since when did it become admirable to have such horribly hygiene? Absolutely disgusting and straight up stupid imo.
Just watched the first episode. I was wondering if I was the only one thinking that.

This is what I am most afraid of as that venue does not have a shower and I will be visiting the city all day after the tournament. I feel bad for my companion that will have to be by my side all day. Looks like I may get to face a brown and black belt in the gi which is really cool as you basically never get to face that much higher ranks in the gi. Almost always has to be in nogi. But you will know what happened if I post a bronze medal on Sunday lmao. I do hope more people sign up but the opportunity is really cool.

No one wants to compete in the Gi anymore :(
