Hi, my name is Carlos and I am self-professed Gi whore and snob. My collections after 24 yrs of training has gotten a little out of hand. I think right now I have around 25 gis(mostly shoyoroll, ctrl, lucky gis, origin, and other high end gis). Recently I received my BJJ Globetrotters gi in the mail...... I can honestly say its one of the unique head turning gis since the pinup girl gi that Tatami released 10 yrs ago. Anyway, last thursday I was planning to go teach in it. I grab it and head down into the academy....I was pretty excited....and then my daughter saw it.....and promptly stole it....and the accolades of having the dopest gi in the academy with it.
Anyways, what are you guy's favorite gi brands?

Damn man I have 12 currently, I loved the lucky gi (black comp), and paid WAY too much for it. It legit shrank two sizes after a Few months.

My favorite is the shoyoroll beast, I paid again way to much a cpl years back, but I love the look.

My gf got me an origin and War Tribe reaper for Xmas both are awesome. However the reaper has the built in rash guard, which if you’ve never had is amazing.

Platinum makes a quality gi, but limited runs.

I have a half dozen tailored atama jackets that are over 20 years old I had made while in Brazil.

But, my favorite gis are all cotton white Judo gis that cost less than $40 including delivery to my door.

I get them from Amazon Prime.

And my usual no gi outfit are plain black sweatpants, and a long sleeve plain black t-shirt, where the total outfit costs $10 to $12 dollars from Walmart.

I'm a designer by trade and drawn to all kinds of cool-looking gi designs, including some novelty ones. The gym culture in Finland is very chill, and I believe all types of uniforms allowed in pretty much all the academies, so I often opt for grey, navy blue, burgundy etc. I like a lot of the simpler designs by Ctrl (and their A2 is a good fit for me) but importing to EU costs too much so mostly get them when I'm in US.

However, the higher end Brazilian-made classics such as the Atama Mundial and the Koral MKM simply carry certain air of credibility, are constructed well, and are proven to last a decade.

Also love my Origin Gorilla Weave Silverback kimono and like to use it in competitions, but unfortunately it doesn't always pass the gi check due uncommon weave pattern.

Hi
I've got over 20 Gi's. Mostly Shoyoroll and X Guard brand but other brands as well. My current favourite is our basic team gi (Gracie Humaita) It has a nice cut and is very light. I used to love Machado Gi's back in the day and also the Vitamins and Minerals gi. I liked the cut and collars. The Machado hybrid was the most comfortable I've ever owned. I've probably gone through over a hundred gi's since I started in 95. I wash and dry them after use so they either shrink too much or they start to fray. I usually donate them as loaner gi's or give them to students who fit them well. I had a Mizuno Conquest gi in the early 2000's but that thing was worn to shreds. Was also very heavy. Glad to wear these new light modern gi's.

I don't train in the gi yet, but when I do I will be getting an Origin gi because they are made in the USA. They are not cheap, but quality and American made usually are not cheap.

Canada Took awhile but I found an old photo of my Vitamins and Minerals Gi. This Gi was awesome!
That’s old school!!

How about the original Ouano gi, the lapel was prob thicker than a boa constrictor

I remember the Ouano Gi's and HCK but never had one. They were not around too often uo here in Ontario and ordering stuff online at that time was a pain. I had the old Krugans Tribal too and it looked great but never fit good. Before that I had a Gracie Systems gi and a few Century judo gi's. One was unbleached too haha!

I just retired my krugans I bought I think in ‘99. Thing was black, now it’s a slightly grey/white color.

I’ve been a big fan of Origin gi’s lately followed by shoyoroll. Granted i don’t have enough time under my belt of hard use i find they fit me the best and are most comfortable with their cut.

I haven't rolled in it yet as I just received it as a birthday present (ready to break it in tonight) but in terms of look this is probably my favourite to date.

Here is my Machado Hybrid Gi. It was like wearing pajamas as far as comfort is concerned. What ever happened to Machado Kimonos?
I know she moved to Europe and then that was it.

This is another brand created by a local acquaintance. It's called Pivot Gi's. Anyway they are comfortable.
The guy on the left is wearing a Maeda Kaiyo gi which I have as well. Maeda is a great brand.

I have faaaar too many gis, about 40+ at this point (partly because I used to get sent a lot for review, until I stopped doing that regularly), My fave two brands are Fenom Kimonos (women's gi company, but I guess I have a woman's body as they are the best fitting gis I own ;D) and the sadly defunct The Green Gi (100% hemp gi company that Adrienne Adams used to run).

If had to choose just one, it would be my Fenom, and of the three Fenom I have, the one I dyed green. Although the trousers are from my Datsusara gi (I always mix and match). :D

I still hark back to my earliest ever gi purchases: Atama gold weave and MKimonos gold weave. Both were made in Brazil and had the softest cotton ever. Sadly they shrank a lot too and if I could get hold of the exact same models today I would buy a size up.

Atama gold weave and MKimonos gold weave
Both amazing gi's but you are right they shrunk so bad I gave them away. I had an unbleached Atama back then that was a tank as well.
I used to tailor my gi's too. Lots of money wasted. haha
