So I came across something interesting today on the site.
I was having a look at a random profile that needs more votes to verify.
The top 6 votes were from black belts, 1 of whom contacted the promoting professor to verify the promotion,
but scrolling a little further down there were other black belts (from the same country) claiming that this person is not a legit black belt.

I wonder what happens now...

We’ve had a previous one go from a huge negative to being verified, but there was a lot less sour grapes in that instance. I believe the current one will be verified, but the bad blood from the disputers will most likely remain.

I know which profile you’re talking about. There’s an odd and dramatic difference in how the voting is shaking out between the black belts who have verified him and the ones voting him down from his own country. I’m interested to know what the dispute is about.

Where can you see this info?

No, they're Italian
I have no info on why they would be disputed. Profile looks legit, but clearly there's a deeper story

Well... If you'd read the forums more thoroughly you might have a bit more information :)

(Ideally those threads would be joined in regards of this matter. Also - another call for INVESTIGATIONS subforum, I think William is the original proposer of the idea :) )

That is a VERY long thread, but thanks for the link
It was an interesting read
I think a forum or even a thread dedicated to such discussions would be great

Sorry, didn't mean to come off as nosy - was meant tongue-in-cheek. Not everyone checks on Beltchecker forums daily :D

haha, nuance is easy to be lost in text, but I assumed it was meant in a joking manner
legitimately though, thanks for the link, I probably wouldn't have found that info otherwise

It is because one can expect that investigations and belt disputes

will not only be long,

but by definition will be full of ad hominem comments,

and have the highest potential outside of threads about polarizing political issues,

to be full of flat out "nanny-nanny boo boo" or "you're a poopy head" comments,

especially from the younger in age black belts, or even sadly the less mature older black belts.

Thus violating the "be civil" guideline, and so should be segregated to their own forum,

with each case getting their own thread, so at least it is clear which parties are accusing each other or their teams or coaches of being poopy heads.

I realize that some Italian people have made the situation a soap opera. But the problem is only theirs, because I continue to teach and work in the utmost professionalism and honesty. One of the fundamental problems these people face me is just that. In Italy there are laws that regulate the profession of sports teacher. Many teach from outlaws, especially in Puglia and I'm talking about the people who voted against me; only someone in recent times is trying to regulate. I am a manager of one of the bodies that work for the national Olympic committee and I repeatedly denounce the illegality of many teachers through various means, but speaking in general and not attacking anyone specifically because I don't care. Another element of discord is that of not attending seminars with their teachers, as they do not participate in seminars with my teacher. This is a game related to money too and I understand it very well, I can't force my students to pay seminars every 15 days, otherwise I risk not even paying the monthly installment. There would be many other things I could explain, but I am truly amazed; my profile is complete with photos that demonstrate all that is my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu activity, also if you want to be seriously informed about a person there are also social media, and my Facebook and Istagram profiles are more than documented for years . Some Professors have contacted my professor directly, anyone of you can do it. He is on Facebook and Instagram Rogerio Olegario. Whoever does not vote or vote against me, ONLY DENIES THE EVIDENCE OF THE FACTS !!!

I will remain neutral on this matter. I will not be tied to any controversy unless it is worth me fighting for.
For instance, if one of my black belts students or close friends that I train with gets accused of being a fake, that is a cause worth fighting for.
It is difficult to choose a side since I don't know any of you. Also I am not familiar with your local martial arts politics.
Either way, I hope you and the other members who are at odds find a way to settle this dispute in a friendly manner and eventually put this all behind you in the spirit of that "Jiu Jitsu Brotherhood" we hear so much about but is seldomly put to practice.

So, in quite a few countries and domiciles, the practice of sport, being a paid sports coach, and especially sports competition is regulated.

So, according to Mr. Carone, he is in compliance with the regulations, and holds some role, whether as a volunteer or formally, with the governing agency of sport. in the domicile where this controversy is occurring.

Mr. Carone has alleged that some of his detractors are operating their sports coaching business illegally, or at least out of regulation,

and this is part of the friction between the two sides.

Mr. Carone, you have made this allegation on this thread, do you have any proof that for this allegation that any of the vocal detractors of your belt rank on this thread are operating their sports coaching businesses illegally or out of regulation that is required by the sports governing body or agency?

Everyone is free to do what they want, even if wearing a black belt means having honor and defending the truth in any case ... I'm not saying it but Bushido. Although I am older than them, I have tried on several occasions to mend the relationship with these people, but this means being under them and being subordinate to them. They are not my Professor, which I believe is the only one to tell me what I should or should not do. I'm sorry that Rogerio is not a media person and is not present here, otherwise the skeletons in the closet they have hidden would come out into the open ... and this is called truth!

Of course, in Italy first of all the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is not recognized by the national Olympic committee, and therefore it can only be taught privately by opening a VAT number and none of them have it. But they could find the trick and say that they teach Grappling, a discipline recognized by the national Olympic committee. The law governing sports teaching is the D.L. 626 of July 23, 1999 and is clear. Only 3 figures can teach sports. 1) graduates in sports sciences2) Graduates from the college of physical education3) technicians trained with a federation or body recognized by the national Olympic committee. It does not seem to me that any of them falls into these 3 subjects.

There are plenty of people here who do not vote at all or rarely vote for people they haven't had firsthand experience with OR at least some people they know and trust very well do not have the firsthand experience with. So you shouldn't take any non-voting personally.

Mr. Carone, somebody can vote, but it is not mandatory to vote! There are lots of members, who only verify People who they know in person, because they shared the mats with, for example, etc....

I agree with you, but can the votes be put by checking the profile or am I wrong? Besides these people voting against, what do you personally find illegal or strange in my profile? I think nothing, therefore you are free to vote me or not to vote for me. But defaming a person who proves the truth with documents, photos and the word of his master in Italy can become a criminal offense. And I will tell you more, I have never denounced these people because I am affixed to my conscience.

Quite right what you say, you are free to vote or not to vote, this is called abstaining. But I repeat, these accusations do not go with me, they go against a Brazilian Professor 5th degree who is not present on this platform and cannot defend himself. And that doesn't seem nice to me.

Being a black belt you should also be able to quite accurately assess your own skill and progress level - after all, you are at least eligible to promote brownbelts now and therefore should also have a pretty good grasp and reason on what a blackbelt in BJJ is. So I don't see that you can say it only "Alas, it was Rogerios decision ergo I am a blackbelt, and should be recognised as a blackbelt." You should have your own reasoning as well :)
