While slowly coming towards 30% of people verified who have completed their profiles - how to get more people to complete their profiles AND to be more active on the site? Christian are you also looking at the data of how many users are using it daily / weekly / monthly etc...?

I think step 1 is for Jiu Jitsu to start again. When I said I had hoped for a few more months to work on the site before it would take off, a world wide pandemic was not what I hoped for, promise :D

The current situation taken into consideration, I feel like engagement is actually quite high. Maybe not in the forums, where it's very visible, but in general, many people are active in a wide range of areas. I think in particular training logging part could grow a lot once lockdown is over, it's showing a lot of potential already.

In the meantime, let's hope the Italian soap opera & the Tatu Thead keeps us entertained.

By the way, I would say that with all the annoyed questions and rude emails we get from people who can not understand why they're not getting verified despite empty profiles or completely wrong / rejected verification photos, I actually think 30% completed profiles is an incredibly high number. Nobody reads ANY instructions while they ALL complain that the site is broken, they're wasting their time, it's asking too much, we're evil, trying to steal their money etc.
"WHY THE FUCK AM I NOT VERIFIED YET" is very common despite people having completely empty profiles or uploading no/random images as verification and then ignoring rejection notification and emails. I would say around 40% of all the verification selfies (holding up the handwritten note) contain no note but is just a picture. Common reaction to the one-line rejecting notification explaining exactly what to do, is that people don't read it, get angry and blame the site for being broken. It is not uncommon for someone to upload (and have rejected) the same selfie without a handwritten note 5-25 times, then give up.
My faith in the intelligence and patience of humanity has dropped significantly after building this website :D So 30% seems incredibly high :D

I agree that this number can be considered good. However once verified, giving a few votes and then leaving... I guess it's fine for databases sake but I'd say One would need to strive towards ~30% of active community from verified members - that'd mean currently more than ~1000 users who are active weekly continuously.

I don't know, I think in general, engagement from people should be considered incredibly low. How many apps do you have on your phone that you almost never use? I think we're just the few odd ones who love to nerd in martial arts forums for 20 years :D

Slippery slope. Prepare to waste hours of your work day debating important topics like "Blue belts can take on Mike Tyson" (circa 2001) or "Reaps are dangerous" (circa 2018 to now).

Peer pressuring more folks from the gym to join is hard with the gym closed. I concur that there will be more engagement once people are using it to log training sessions and when we're trying to help verify the ranks of more people joining. Christian has done a lot of good work in making this site valuable outside just logging your promotions and I think if we're vocal to our friends about why we enjoy using the site they'll use it more themselves too.

Yeah, I'm still struggling to get my students on here, but I've managed at least a few. It's been cool to see how many black belts regularly post on the forum, I haven't seen that outside of The Underground before. So, Beltchecker has effectively developed a similar (perhaps even higher?) level of upper belt posting, but without the gross right-wing slant of The Underground: excellent! :D

Sometimes leaks through, particularly the general Trumpy 'durr, those libtard snowflakes' type stuff. Like on some of the recent coronavirus posts, the usual right wing nutjobs have been spouting their typical nonsense.
But yeah, you're right in that it is MUCH worse outside of the BJJ bit.

99% completed profile verification rate! I think this news deserves MASS EMAIL to all registered users with non-completed profiles.
Also the increase is probably due to NEWER members being more meticulous with the verification process. I know there are people who joined in earlier days, got stuck and just didn't bother anymore - maybe it makes sense to poke them a bit :)
Something in me wanted to see the 15k / 5k split but it seems VERIFIED is growing past one third of registered!

Already some reminder emails going out to non-completed/non-verified profiles, now and then :)
1/3 verified is actually pretty wild, that's very good!
