What the fuck...

Even though there is no definite evidence presented against DLR in the Do Val case (yet), this should make even the doubters lose respect towards the guy.

Well I guess it's easier not to sexually abuse your female students when there's none in the classes.

All DLR affiliates in Finland have to wear their team gis with a bunch of De La Riva patches/embroideries... besides the women practitioners directly suffering, I feel bad for all of them now too.

He's only going to piss off all the women who were sticking by him by not leaving his affiliation. Weird, but I get the feeling he's losing it from all the stress. I know the man a little and have an innocent until proven guilty stance on all this. Still hoping for the best for him and his affiliation.

I was told by several people over the years, that DLR was the only guy in Rio who had no enemies. The whole ordeal is zo bizarre. Never meet your heroes, I guess...

And then Renzo tripling down on posting Nazi quotes. It's almost like being a black belt in Jiu Jitsu does not make you a black belt in life, as we were promised! :D

Easier not to get accused of it when there aren’t any in the classes too.

Yes, indeed sounds like the perfect solution.

I'm going to complain to the jiujitsu priesthood about their false advertising!

I’m not an affiliate. I just think this is relevant. https://www.facebook.com/[...]70/?type=3
From your link:

We became aware through social medias that a student is saying she was “expelled from the academy”. Said fact, in truth, is a big misunderstanding in which the student made declarations that do not correspond to reality, and that were made in a meeting via the Zoom platform in which she was not present.

The Delariva Academy has never ‘invited’ any one of its students to withdraw from the team, except, of course, in cases of justified reasons that go against fair play, good conduct and other issues that are not befitting of sportsmanship.

In truth, the Delariva Academy is undergoing an enormous restructuring process, which was already underway before the pandemic and had to be accelerated due to the reopening protocols and return of activities.

Said restructuring aims to modify schedules, teaching methods and professors for children and women’s classes. The objective is to improve the classes that are given.

The Academy, in truth, and contrary to what is being said, is creating a comfortable environment focused 100% on the empowerment, protagonism and appreciation of women on the mat. For such, it is seeking the best professionals in the area to minister jiu-jitsu classes for women, modifying schedules in order for classes to be more accessible.

We reiterate that mixed-sex classes have not been prohibited. And that what is new in the academy’s and class format is nothing more than projects that seek to improve all students. In this current phase of non-contact training sessions, we will try to group together the maximum number of women in a single class so that we may provide specific exercises directed to each biotype.

The objective is to stimulate the female public to participate in the sport and be part of the team, aggregating both expertise and experience, in a safe and respectful environment.

The posting and any declaration different from the above do not proceed. They are falsehoods that go against all the spirit of union, ethics and equality that has always guided the Delariva Jiu-Jitsu Academy

The biggest Finnish DLR-affiliated gym announced they will no longer be affiliated because of the recent events.
Yeah I heard there was more going on behind the scenes than just the accusation. An attempt to commercialize things (more along GB lines) that didn't sit well with a lot of members.

For a while, my understanding it that there was no official standardized DLR affiliation system. If you had a good relation with Ricardo, you could have it. They changed that over the last few years, because the time had grown tremendously. Many academies were put in difficult situations were, all of a sudden, they were asked to pay a significant fee to have an official affiliation (in the same ballpark than many big teams). But my understanding is that they're far from being as drastic as GB.
