Hey guys and girls,
My name is Dr Maximilian Hinz and I am an orthopaedic surgery resident in the Department of Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at the Technical University of Munich, Germany.
My research focus lies on sports injuries and I just started a new BJJ online survey on BJJ injuries.
This is the first study that investigates injury mechanisms, return to sports after injuries, return to competition and connects those findings to the initial preventive measures taken.
It aims to identify the most successful measures in preventing injuries from happening. Its significance is especially evident when most gyms worldwide are closed and athletes can't wait to return to the mat and want to stay healthy and strong.
If you could share the link to the survey with the community, you guys would be of great help!

This survey will roughly take 5-7min and is anonymous. I want to thank you in advance for all of your effort. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me anytime!
Best regards,
Max

Cool, I love a survey, so filling in now. First stumbling block, you've combined two questions, as you ask both have you competed and how many times a year if you do compete.
I've competed a whole once, back in 2007. So therefore I guess I'd have to tick No to keep it as accurate as possible, given I have competed but that is just once every 14 years .;)

That would be accurate. Thank you very much for participating.

Just did the survey. I'm curious why you only care about injuries in the last 3 years?

The more recent injuries are, the more detailed people can report on them. If I had an injury 10 years ago, I wouldn’t know, if something kept me from returning to BJJ for 1 vs 3 vs 5 months for example. For an injury I just had 1-2 years ago, I would definitely know. Does that make sense?

Understood. Makes sense for minor injuries. People remember the big ones that put you out for half a year or more however.
