We've been open for over a month now.

Two weeks ago, one of our guys got sick & tested positive for Covid. He immediately informed everyone using our group chat, and everyone he was on the mat with got tested.

No one tested positive. No one got sick.
Even the guy's girlfriend, who spent the night with him after training didn't catch the bug.

The guy himself is a stud. 2 meters tall, super healthy, shredded, kitesurfer & blue belt beast. He beat it in a few days, and has doctors premission to return to the mat next week.

Some key points.
We train in a room with all windows open, and two ventilators refreshing the air from inside to outside.

It's interesting to note that eventhough he rolled with and breathed on everyone, no one caught it. This points towards the aerosol hypothesis, where only prolonged exposure to aerosols within a confined, closed space can cause infection.

TL;DR version.
Train with the windows open & make sure the air in your dojo gets refreshed with outside air (no regular air conditioning / air recycling).

Unless he has the same ventilation setup in his bedroom with his girlfriend, isn’t it a bit of a stretch to guess that’s the reason he wasn’t contagious?

Actually, he slept with the windows open & a vent blowing, because it was hot af.

But yeah.

Never finished my phd in epidemiology.
But training with fresh air might still be a good idea.

Good to hear nobody got sick. This is going to get tricky in winter though. We're still not allowed to do anything here ... now been 5 months since I rolled :(

We had the same thing. One of our guys got it and trained while asymptomatic. he notified everyone and we all got tested, thank goodness nobody aquired the bug. His wife didnt get it either.

We have all windows open, have 4 Ventilators and 4 Air Cleaners at the moment. So far so good. Problem will start in late fall & wintzer, when people complain about the cold.

Yeah. Although I'd rather be cold than not train, but we'll have to wait and see. Also, can't train properly in the UK at the moment anyway, not even sure if we'll be able to spar by the winter (though I'm hopeful we might finally get back to rolling in September, it could easily be 2021 until sparring is allowed again in England).
