Apparently this has already become one of the most hated/discussed functions on the site, so I'm disabling it for now. Then we can see if anyone will miss it at any point :)

I am from New Zealand and with very few profiles in N.Z (around 20 last time i looked) all unverified.
The reqest to Verify button was my best friend to get the votes i currently have.
Maybe there could be a second forum for new people to post there profiles for verification, with certain criteria to write an introduction and a little about ones self?

Yep, good move. This way, you have to actually interact with somebody to get them to verify, which should be the very least you have to do. I guess people might still send messages that say nothing except 'Please verify me', but even that is still better. At least it's potentially starting a conversation.

I still get message from people I don't know. A few of them I know their instructors and was able to ask but people have no shame man. haha

your verified and have major voting power as a 3rd degree... your like Prime rib right now!! Its going to happen lol... SN: I started as part of Gracie Humaita until i got to my blue belt and had a falling out. met some great guy with that association that im still friends with after 12 years!!

It happens.. happened to me too. Now we've buried the hatchet. I just kept training with others in the association as the option was available. If not I would have probably moved on to another team. Glad I didn't cause my beef was never with Royler, David or the other black belts. All good.

Thats awesome.. I never had any beef with anyone, i mean anyone that was part of Gracie Philly. We are all still good friends. I had a big falling out with Regis Lebre . (while i was a blue belt ). which it seemed more racial than anything but my main instructor at the time didn't really stick up for me and i had to cut ties... So i landed under the RMNU ( Robson Moura Association) and I couldn't have been more thankful.

Thanks... where are you in Canada... my Whole team comes up there every year for a annual RMNU training camp in Toronto. We've been doing it for the past 6 years.. around June.. if your not busy You should Attend. its open to anyone.

Makes it hard in the early stages to get verified. There are only 2 out of 51 people verified in Texas and both of them are white belts.

I actually find it funny that so few people are even on this site from Montreal. We have such a great scene, but you know, tournaments are illegal here.

Also, going to camps. I got my belt verified relatively quickly (once I worked out I had to click something else to get the photo verified ;D), because I know loads of people from camp.

I was curious if there are statistics on how much deleting the button impacted the voting process, as in less vote and verifications per day.

Based on experience I can say that the camps are here a much stronger reference than the number of matches or medals :D

Suggestion about the verification button, making it so you can only request it from people who you are friends with. Wanting to help people get verified that I know but I have to manually go through the list and see who isn't verified. Also having to refresh their page too see if the identity is verified so I can finally vote for them is a hassle, would be nice to have an easy way for them to inform me without spamming messages on everybody.
