I finally got around building the events section of Beltchecker that's been on our list forever :) It's still in the early stages but I think it can already be pretty useful. My main concern with this has been to figure out how to avoid it turning into Facebook's events section, where there are a million things posted, tons of half-empty stuff and it's such a mess that nobody ever look at them. So I came up with a few things to try and keep the content high quality.
- List, search for or create an event by clicking "Events" in the main menu (https://beltchecker.com/events.php)
- Only fully verified profiles can create an event and they will be listed on the event page
- An event must be properly filled out (image, information etc.) before it can be published
- Users can set their RVSP on an event and participating users are listed
- Events you are attending will be shown directly on your profile
- All users can give event posts a thumbs up or thumbs down. This score—combined with how many participants are confirmed—will determine how visible the event will be on the site. An event with a high score will be listed higher, where as one with a low score (/trust) will be almost invisible.
- All events automatically have their own forum which is accessible by it's confirmed participants
- Shortcut URLs also supported for events
You can see a sample event on http://www.beltchecker.co[...]encamp2020
Feel free to add some events if you're hosting anything. Hope you'll like it!!

When clicking on a profile of a confirmed participants the profiles will not load resulting in a HTTP ERROR 500 or a random profiles loads.

Can these be sorted by date on our home page?
No they’re being sorted by popularity, so upvotes - downvotes + verified participants. This is to ensure that any spam events will not get any visibility, kind of like Reddit.
Sorting by date doesn’t make much sense for a global site anyway. But I might expand the system later when we have more data (events) to also filter by geography / affiliation etc so the results are more relevant for you :)

Thanks. It appears I can already sort and filter on the Events page.
