My wife and I both caught Covid-19 and were hit pretty hard, including our two adult kids who caught it while caring for us. The lingering fatigue is intense. Just curious how long it kept you out of training once you recovered. It's been two weeks for me, and I'm going crazy sitting around.

I was lucky I had a very mild outcome of the virus. Since the symptoms disappeared, I haven’t noticed anything different.

Cardio is still as shit as before :D

Appears the effects vary wildly between individuals, so likely my experience isn't helpful at all.

I recovered from a very mild case in October (only symptom was a slight burning sensation down my throat) and when officially released from the quarantine, 2 days after the symptoms disappeared (as per Finnish guidelines), I took an extra day off, then returned to the mats & straight away to a sparring comp. class. No (covid-related) issues. Upped my training back to pre-infection numbers in about a week. Haven't noticed anything weird since. No unusual fatigue or lung issues, but I didn't have those even when I got sick.

Just read that Fedor has tested positive for Covid-19. That sucks.
Well at this point it'll probably be more surprising if people manage to not get it. 100 million official cases recorded, so not unlikely 1 billion already had it, assuming most are asymptomatic (if I didn't know about a virus, I wouldn't have thought twice about that little fever/headache I had).

Caught it February 2. Got back from a jog with the dog and sat down light headed and just weird. Hit the sauna and didn’t sweat. Fever came that night but I did not get tested until the next morning when I couldn’t taste anything. Fever until February 6. Topped out at 102.9 and never went below 100.5 at all. The body pain was intense. My shins hurt one day and the next it was my hips then it was my spine. Headache for almost a week. Then on the February 7 I started to cough bad. Officially out of quarantine on February 12 and was going to get back to jitsu on the 15 when Houston had the worst winter storm in the last 40 years with 5 I aches of snow and freezing temps below 20 degrees for days. In Texas!!! So I got a few more days to recover. My gym opens tonight after we fixed all the busted pipes. But i was able to get back on the mats yesterday and this morning with a couple no gi classes and it was exhausting. Survival mode with a few that I normally don’t have to just survive with. Cardio is busted. And I am more sore than I have been in years. I am 42 and it is going to be a little road back. Doing some gi tonight and tomorrow morning. Going to just battering ram my way back to where I was with these antibodies!!!

Good luck getting back to it, man! My community and I, at least to our knowledge, have yet to become infected, and there are vaccines on the horizon so we're optimistic!

Get better, brother! I was out 3 weeks and the first week or two back was pretty awful. No wind. Just felt slow and pretty breathless. By the 2-3 week back, I felt somewhat normal. Overall, I'd say I felt pretty lethargic for a total of 6 weeks. Where's your school in Houston? I'm here as well.

We are up outside of cypress off Bauer road and 290 officially in Hockley, but you know if you live here, it is all Houston! Lone Star BJJ. I am Dean Zaino’s first black belt. He got his Black belt from Darren McCall of BTT humble. So we were under Darren as an affiliate when he was an independent so when he went BTT four or five years ago we fell under the umbrella but are not an official affiliate. We definitely jits to a different drummer.

I did contact tracing for a few months and it was interesting seeing how differently it affected everyone. I saw whole families all with different symptoms. The best was the asymptomatic 98 yr old that didn’t think he had it, but knew the state would get money for reporting him positive. He went on to say that he also knew they get more money if he was dead so he fully expected someone to come kill him. I probably talked to that guy for two hours. He was great.

I had it back in October. Incredibly mild case - just had a headache and felt slightly tired for a day and a half, with no respiratory symptoms whatsoever. Basically just felt like a somewhat extended hangover.

I haven't noticed any lingering effects, although when it comes to one of the most commonly reported lingering effects (loss of smell) I honestly don't even know if I'd notice. My sense of smell took a serious hit a few years ago due to a super-blocked ear on a flight back from Svalbard, and I've never gotten it back properly since.

I do know of at least one pro MMA fighter here in Germany who still suffers from drastically reduced cardio months after he recovered from Covid. And of course there's Khamzat Chimaev who's had more than one planned UFC bout cancelled because he still can't get back to training at his usual level. Really seems like an absolute coin toss in terms of what you get hit with.

One of my training partners was feeling the fatigue for about 2 months. It varied at times. Some days he felt almost 100% and others he was gassing out very quickly while rolling.

The only loss of taste or change that is still lingering a week and a half after my 10 day quarantine is peppermint gum. I cannot taste it. I know I am chewing it because I can feel it in my sinuses. Also coffee tastes like pool water and that sucks.

Unsure if I've had it or not. I had a stretch where I lost taste MONTHS ago, prior to them recognizing it as a primary symptom. I say "lost" but it was really just muted significantly. Everything tasted super bland with like this weird unpleasantness to it. Super spicy foods could cut through a little bit. Unsure about a loss of sense of smell because I've never had a great sense of smell anyway. I also had fatigue, but I get random bouts of that to this day. I've had blood work done and everything is normal.

I feel for those of you who've had it and still deal with symptoms. My father got it bad, but thankfully made a full recovery. I stayed out of the gym for four months at the onset when they closed everything down. When they re-opened gyms in NC I went back. It took me months to get back to a place where I felt like I was improving again. I've been back at it for about five months now, and to our knowledge no one has contracted it. Odds are it has been through a few people, but they were asymptomatic.

We'll see how well the vaccine works, but numbers are already dropping rapidly in NC. I read somewhere that they anticipate the US will achieve herd immunity in April. I certainly hope that's true not only for the BJJ community's sake, but also for the world in general. I hope everyone on here that has it or gets it makes a full recovery and gets back on the mat with little to no issue. I recognize how important this art is in our lives.
