Limitations on functionality for kids profiles

As of today, we've implemented limits on posting and voting functionality for profiles under age of 16. While having a training profile is accepted, we do not believe that parents should interact and communicate with other adults on behalf of their children on this site.
We appreciate your understanding.

Poked around in my son's profile as I was curious about the changes.
- Kids can no longer vote to verify ranks
- Kids can no longer write on walls
However, I was able to send a private message from my son's account to mine. So it looks like parents can still message other adults on their kid's behalf from their kid's account?
Regardless, limiting child functionality on the site seems like a wise move.

That shows how little I know about kids. I was really impressed at her level of english for a child so young. Never dawned on me that her parents were writing messages. *facepalm*

Yeah this has been up for debate and I wasn't sure if I should also block private messages, since it's not really a "social" feature.
What do you all think about this?

I would think private messages would be the first feature to be limited/blocked.

I'm inclined to cut it. No DMs in or out. Those with a parent who trains (which is most of them) can always ask their parents for help with verification.
Though it'd be good if they could still contact moderators.

Having given it some more thoughts today, I agree and I have blocked messages as well.

That's by email or Facebook messenger anyway :)

We have our first negative review because of the new rules :D
Most truthful site review I’ve seen so far! 100% accurate. I’m amazed more people haven’t figured out Graugart’s foul shenanigans!

To completely build from scratch a free-to-use BJJ practicioner database with training logging, academy management tools, forums & whatnot, just to have most vote points for himself* is plainly... evil beyond comprehension!
*seems this vile masterplan has failed since he is #4 most points only, even with all the crass vote tinkering!

Where is this posted, the Facebook page?
I remember buying a DVD box set years ago (I think it was Space Ghost Coast to Coast) that had used the negative reviews like they were positive reviews. Blurbs like "Amuses only itself."
This could be an enormous marketing win for beltchecker!

This is actually why I don't buy things from Facebook ads anymore; companies have the power to delete bad reviews.
But in this case I approve of your despotic abuse of power.

I'm not sure I could have deleted it if it was a review. This was just a regular post on the page's wall. Not that it mattered anyway, I am totally fine with the fact that there'll always be some people who dislike what I do. There's a saying in Danish (freely translated) "if you stick your nose out, you should expect someone to punch it" :D

1. Arthur Snijders is a Dutch name.
2. Arthur Snijders is a tool.
3. Parents who secretly run their kids social media profiles are tools.
4. Yay on the new rules.

It's also an empty fake profile, so it's probably just a random name

You have to be 13 to have an account on FB.
Maybe it actually is a kid who's upset about not being able to try for votes anymore?
Who knows.

There's good money to be made in social media if you know how to use it though.
I don't, but my ex-BIL is a famous YouTuber with over 1 million subscribers and my sister has been the social media manager for several professional sports teams.
I can see such a thing as parents turning their jiu-jitsu prodigies into Macaulay Culkin-esque money machines with the help of social media. Getting in early on BeltChecker could be a piece of that.

Ah I already figured it out. By default, birthdate is not required to enter to create a profile. So a brand new profile does not have a birthdate before people go edit it in their profile. I'll fix that :)
