As an adult what's the heaviest and lightest you've competed at?

Heavy short answer: 262 pounds
Light short answer: 195 pounds

I competed at 262 pounds with just one week of training. I just graduated college and was on the university powerlifting team. Decided to try BJJ and fell in love! From there I decided to cut weight each tournament after having competed around 262, 250, 234, 219, 205, and 195. My very last tournament was at 215.

The lighter brackets were the harder brackets for me. The heavy brackets I was always the fastest guy but I was also the smallest!

I think I did an in house tournament where I might've weighed like 190ish, but I'm not sure. As far as weighing in, I think the heaviest I've ever been on the scale is like 183 with shorts on, and the lightest 176 with a gi on. Those were for 185(in whatever) and 181(with a gi) respectively.

I've competed at 125lbs for my lowest, and 175lbs for my highest. 8 different weight classes in MMA, 2 for Kickboxing, and 6 for BJJ.

My heaviest was at white belt at 230 and my lightest has been at 165. Once I get back down to that I may try to shrink a little more to 155 like my 18 year old kid who competes.

Fought Lethwei in Burma from 15 to 19 at 147, Now I compete in grappling from 200 to Ultra Heavyweight walk around between 210 and 225 depending on how much I lift.. I had gotten up to 230 for one match at SUG but it was too much muscle

First competition as a white belt in 2013 I did in Middleweight (-82.3kg with the Gi).

2020 & some 70 matches later still competing in Middleweight. :)
Doing the occasional Open Class of course.

I think ppl should just pick a weight class and stick with it. :D (Easier for me as I started BJJ in my 30s.)

Only the 'rona break had me moving up to Medium Heavy (-88.3kg). Have been doing pretty well actually, even though I'm quite short for it (180cm), so might just stick around. Felt overpowered at Medium Heavy only once with an insanely strong fellow, never had that at Middle. I think history has proven that 88kg guys have a good chance at Open Class, not so much the lighter ones.

I'm a fat ass now due to injury, COVID and my love of food. When i started in 1998 i didn't cut weight, however i had it down when i really started competing at purple/brown and would walk at around 194, i'd compete at 164-169. I'd usually cut 24 in 24 hours, which fucking sucks.

For my MMA match when i was 39, i was walking around 200 and cut to 184 which wasn't bad at all. After that up until today i only do openweight, so i don't have to worry about my weight. I'm walking around 230 right now, working on losing weight and been hitting the gym, pool, TRT regularly. (I'm 46)

In my 20's- 267, on average between 240-250

in my 30's- 235, on average between 220-235

in my 40's- 216, on average between 194-208

in my 50's I'm assuming that I'll be a featherweight LOL

competed in fall 2015 at 208 lbs. went on a competition season if you will in spring/summer 2016 and weighed as low as 174 competing in august 2016. Honestly probably went a little too far with the weight cutting there. I settled in around 185 afterwards but have put back on few more pounds with my recent inactivity but now that im healthy n training again hopefully get back down to fighting weight again shortly!

I only ever competed once (not yet had the motivation to do it again, but I haven't completely ruled it out, just mostly), at super feather (under 64kg/141lbs). Which was a really bad idea, I overshot and weighed 59kg/130lbs on the day and was ill on-and-off for several weeks afterwards, IIRC.

If I ever compete again, I would aim for under 70kg/154lbs. Which would be easy enough normally, though yeah, been feeling flabby over lockdown. ;)

I usually compete at medium heavy 88.3kg.max.and also competed and won a lot at Heavyweight 93.3kg max..even when at eligible weight for med heavy... because the heavyweights usually played to my style of jits..ie take down..pass n smash..as the med heavy guys will pull guard more often..I have fought up in the superheavy and ultraheavy divisions as well..even when weighing less than 86kg..when there was no one in my division..or when I just wanted to test myself more.. I have always participated in the absolute division when I medaled in any comps.. and have won gold in over 7 absolute divisions ( 3 being at European level comps) and took silver in even more..I tend to find my natural weight blends well in the open weight divisions. It probably is because I am not too big..not too small . .to deal with most common styles that the differing weights tend to follow on average..

My first comp was at 185, and my most recent, pre Covid, was at 155. Unfortunately, I'm now back at 185. Some of it is muscle. Some. :/

Heavy short answer: 240 pounds
Light short answer: 160 pounds

I got fat during college and then got really in shape when I was a 3 stripe white belt and was competing for a ton. Now that I'm older and I enjoy food and train at a relaxed pace I've settled into the 205lbs range and am happy here. I'll probably slim down for my first purple belt tournament but I'm sure I'll regress back to the mean and I wasn't very happy at any of the weights under 185.

Lightest: -70kg, also as a white belt
Heaviest (and current): - 82.3kg, competed as a blue belt in this category.

Due to my height (177cm), I would like to stick to the -77kg category, but the food is good, food is life :)
Still, not such an avid competitor, I spend my time on competitions as an evil referee most of the time, but who knows...

I've weighed in at between 184 and 210 pounds.

My opponents have weighed in between 150 and 400 pounds.

My average weight has probably been around 203 pounds.

My opponents average weight has most likely been around 225 pounds through the course of near 200 matches. Quite often 230 to 250 pounders.

I would say on average I give up 10 to 20 pounds per match as I often compete in heavier or absolute divisions.

As someone who has never competed in jiujitsu I find the large differences in weight pretty crazy, I've hovered around 150/155 most of my life.

At my age it tough sometimes to find competition at lightweight more guys are not competing any longer. Most time i have to test myself at absolute. And most times there's about a 40 to 50 pound weight difference. But I find it fun to test myself.

-76 kg and -82 kg categories with gi, -79 kg and -85 kg without gi. Every time 1-6 kilos underweight. Open categories too, still weighing under 82 kg.
