I really enjoy listening to podcasts, more than actual "entertainment".

Here are 3 of my favs. What are yours?

Your Undivided Attention - fantastic, insightful podcast on the dark side of tech and social media. Made by Tristan Harris and Asa Raskin, of the Center for Humane Technology - the same crew that brought you that doc The Social Dilemma.

The Hero With A Thousand Holds - diving into the many folkstyle wrestling traditions across the globe. Made by my friend and our Beltchecker brother Ruadhan MacFadden (I didn't bother to check the spelling of his very Irish name, did I nail it?). What I love about this podcast, is that it really explores the conditions that made it possible for a particular style to arise. It's as much a cultural / sociological podcast, as it is a grappling tale.

The Lex Fridman Podcast (formallly known as the Artificial Intelligence Podcast). Lex is an MIT guy with a deeeeep knowledge of AI and tech, but he's also Russian and a BJJ black belt. I know Lex thru mutual friends, and he's a truly interesting guy. Don't be fooled by his stoic demeanor. This podcast is straight up fire emoji.

BJJ Mental Models, Explore the conceptual side of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Black belt brothers Steve & Matt Kwan discuss the mental models, or universal principles, behind the gentle art.

I used to listen to loads of BJJ podcasts, especially the Fightworks Podcast back in the day, but I lost interest in BJJ podcasts over the last few years, for some reason.

Still listen to lots of podcasts, but less than I used to. Politics on the Couch is one of my faves at the mo, taking a psychological perspective on politics (mainly UK, the host is a centrist columnist that tends to write for The Guardian). The RHLSTP podcast has been good for years, Richard Herring interviewing a bunch of comedians. I also like the I Just Want To Talk About Star Trek podcast (I'm a big Trekkie) with Mike McCafferty.

Lex Fridman’s "Take It Uneasy" was a favorite. More about martial arts than science/tech. Old episodes are worth listening to if they are available somewhere (I don’t know).

I’m very picky about jiujitsu ones... Raspberry Ape is one of the few ones I always try when a new episode comes out. Good long-form freeflowing discussion (a lot of the interviews on other BJJ podcasts feel too much samey like done with the most boring question sheet) and a lot about UK martial arts history. Naturally episode quality depends on the guest.

Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History is awesome. Well-researched and told in a captivating way. I remember a lot more about the Mongols, WWI etc. from his podcasts than from reading books about them.
