Hi everyone !
Hope you’re all doing well.
Do you know if it will be possible to link the Beltchecker and Judochecker accounts in the case we are practicing both disciplines ?
Is it the same user account for both platforms or do we have to create a new one ?

That's a great idea. I thought of that in terms of being able to not have to re-identify again etc.

The amount of work it would take at this point to build this functionality is proportionally quite big compared to the effort it will take for people to create and verify a new account. Pretty much the only thing we could potentially transfer over would be name and face verification anyway, which is such a small thing to do yourself in a few minutes :)

Absolutely understood, especially with the codebase being what it is, much easier to do this way for sure. I enjoy it so far as well! getting my Judo teacher on over there and in beltchecker.

Thanks for your answer ! I am not a computer scientist but I understand the challenges that this can represent ;-) Would it be easier to add a feature that allows a link to Judochecker to appear on a Beltchecker profile (location shown on the attached image) ? And vice versa.

Yea this is absolutely on our list to build at some point :)

I can understand the complexities of not connecting DBs BUT as verification needs human attention currently anyway, could we get verification VIA another system account? E.g. I would confirm at judochecker that I am the same person that I am on beltchecker AND then confirm that on my already verified beltchecker profile and then get profile picture and identity verified on judochekcer via me being a real person on beltchecker?
(Edit: Yes, I know making and uploading another picture is not very hard, just asking.)

Yes this is absolutely possible to build. But it’s a nice-to-have feature that takes quite a lot of work to build compared to how little effort it takes to verify profile picture and name for a user him-/herself. It’s literally a matter of two minutes or less.
And there’s plenty of work on the need-to-have list that’s higher on the priority list. If a 5000 people would buy certificates every month then I could make this site my full time job and have more time to do these little nice-to-have things right away :D but for now we have to prioritize what’s needed to be done with the limited ressources we have.

I'm saying why not start without building anything?
Maybe as a first just a "verify via Beltchecker" option in judochecker which would functionally do nothing BUT I would need just to let's say message an admin in beltchecker who is also an admin in judochecker and then they'd approve me in judochecker and that's that.
Basically no additional work for admin, I'd just need to know on beltchecker who to send the message to.

Because photo and ID verification are case-by-case manually anyway that would actually make it EASIER on the admins, because they would not need to actually decide and check anything - message from an already verified account saying "Yes, this is me on the other platform." would be enough.

Sorry it would not actually be easyer because [insert technical explanation of how the system is built and scale here].
And now I won't spend more time on debating this feature, it's on the nice-to-have list for the future at some point when there's time for it :) :)
