Dang, I had an idea like this the other day as I sat out during drilling with two other training partners who are recovering from injuries. What we wanted to create was a kind of board game of BJJ where we each took turns calling out moves really quickly and if you didn't have a good counter right away then the other person wins the match. These are the things that you think about when you can't train...

"Will be held in remote mode" what does that even mean, you are on Zoom from your bedroom throwing your friend for style points??

If you'd bothered to read the description, you'd know. :)

"Each participant has to film how he/she performs the grappling technique. The video containing the filmed demonstration of the technique has to be uploaded on his/her Facebook account under the title “International Grappling Tournament”.

There are other curious wordings on the instructions as well, such as the first task:

"Start from a standing posture, perform a throwing move and end with a painful action of the arm"

Painful action of the arm. Kinda vague, but must involve pain, arm, and action. Emphasis on pain I guess.

I think its enough if the partner just makes a painful face expression.

Actually if this competition is organized even a little bit "serously" then it would be pretty cool for the kids. I think I'll talk my kids into taking part.

You know there's a new mobile BJJ game based on this concept, right?

'Start from a standing posture, perform a throwing move..' Is takedown a throwing move?
Based on the other language there, I'm pretty sure "throwing move" means any kind of a takedown... But yeah technically there are ofc takedowns that don't count as throws.

Study Saku’s videos... they make a hilarious job of selling the pain. :) Also the furious tapping and always holding the sub a few secs too long.

We will study those so the victory wont depend on that :-)

And then we all laugh when we find out they were in the masters division and not adults!

I posted this here purely to ridicule it... an online grappling kata tournament ffs! :D But I can see that it could be a fun project for kids, especially if they've been unable to attend normal classes because of the pandemic. :)

I have a guy I roll with that we basically do that. We go one small move at a time taking turns. It isn't a whole move, but anything you can do with one smooth motion. It's great for strategy and to help with efficiency of motion.
