Ok what is your go to for music? I know at my school recently i designated Friday nights as "metal Friday's". 90% of the class loves metal so we went with it.

My go to is 80's Metal and some pop, current hardcore/metal, and old school rap and punk. I do delve into Cash at times, as he is more blues than country, but i HATE country.

Coming up one of the higher black belts would play country for warm ups, and i wanted to die.

If the room has a particularly macho group in it,

I'll play Disney songs such as Let it Go from Frozen,

or How Far I'll Go from Moana,

during the live grappling session.

I'd love to roll to some J.S. Bach concertos or cantatas, but I'm weird. I think it might help my brain process my next move. Ha ha.

I like alot of music genres with the exception of country music. Just not for me.
With that said the list is extensive:
Alternative/ dark wave/punk/post punk/OI! /ska/reggae/trojan skinhead reggae
disco/edm/techno/house music/hip hop//reggaeton
r&b/jazz (sade style) /funk and latin music
Pop can be ok sometimes too.
I used to be exclusively into dark wave but then I grew up.

Metal brings up the injury rate (as compared to background instrumental hiphop for example) - does anyone find the same?

Yep, I NEVER play metal in class. I aim for the atmosphere to be as relaxed as possible. Main playlists I go with are electro, 80s, disco and chilled out hip hop. This is a typical mixture: https://open.spotify.com/[...]USlFzM19X1

In terms of my taste in general, I scrobble almost everything, so this is a reasonable list of it since 2007: https://www.last.fm/user/[...]preset=ALL

I believe I have curated the best training playlist in the history of Spotify.
https://open.spotify.com/[...]WjckSJK4GA

(Intensity & injury rate acceleration prevention not guaranteed.)

I also have additional iTunes playlists, because the service is missing such essentials selections (at least in Finland) as the soundtracks for Bloodsport, The Wraith, Commando, Hot Shots! & Team America: World Police.

Love this.

I often curate the music for our academy's popular open mats, and always mix songs like Berlin's "Take My Breath Away", The Cars' "Drive" or Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is" in there. It's fun to see how it affects the rolls. :D

And of course the BJJ Globetrotters Camps have had 100% "80s Romantic" music themed open mats for a while.

Also music links for Dave: Christian has a pretty good bunch of public playlists from past years' camps' open mats on his Spotify account (Christian Graugart). Not as good as my own of course, but... pretty good. :)

Everyone disliking country start here :) https://www.youtube.com/w[...]pDYfkymaSE

Used to be a grunge/metal head but quite quickly went into some hiphop and alternative electronic stuff...
Nowadays I'll say I like Billie Eilish as well as the last single Blinding Lights by Weeknd. It's good music.

Great for the environment that you're doing all this traveling without leaving your house, Dave! :D
Lol!! It's more economic too!
