Just curious how folks are deciding which tournament matches/medals to include on their profiles.

Personally, I decided to include my Judo tournament matches, as I definitely used (or tried using) BJJ to win those matches. On the other hand, I did not include any of my wrestling matches, as I had zero experience in BJJ when I was actively competing in wrestling.

How does everybody else decide where to draw the line on recording competition wins/losses here on beltchecker?

I put some MMA matches in there as well. Maybe they don't fit, but I think they've been highly related to my BJJ career and development, personally.

For me fighting and grappling are different.. That said not better or worse.. I count my fighting career by KB and MMA 119 pro fights.. Grappling I honestly don't know.. Hell I came back to compete at 53 and I know I have somewhere over 250 total matches since then only because a student had kind of let me know..

Combat sports and competition is something I love

I have some judo tournament experience but didn’t want to include that in my record, I don’t want to skew my data.

But considering the record logs are really their for our own benefit (no one really gives a hoot except ourselves) , do what makes you feel happy.

I assume this was a typo.

Kickingboxing/Muaythia shouldn't count, as there's no ground fighting. But I can see how many people who includes MMA with their grappling experience.
That said, if somebody wants to list KB/MT matches on their profile there's no harm in that.

Yes it was fixed now that many fights and I would be dead by now

I just put my grappling comps after turning 53 up as that is my career that would fit my BJJ "career"

Well now there are MMAChecker & JudoChecker so ppl can list their comp records for the correct sport.

Personally I don't mind seeing MMA fights listed on here, as long as they're clearly labeled as such. It's your profile, you can put up whatever you think is relevant to your grappling career.

What I do mind however, is people putting Walkovers as Wins. Yes you advanced in the bracket but c'mon you didn't win anybody.

I've been using a belt checker as a sort of training log. When I made my profile Judo checker wasn't a thing yet (though I do have Judo Checker as well now)

I Feel it helps show my growth and My Journey in BJJ and it's nice to see all my grappling in one place so I can see my growth. It's been a decade of training now and it fun to be able to look back in one consolidated place. Plus having videos up lets people see how bad I was at Newaza 10 years ago when I was still a little high schooler.

I just put BJJ matches. I competed in amateur kickboxing locally when I was 20-23 but it was so long ago (I’m 41) and it doesn’t help with BJJ skill.

I have been cross training yoga for two years and want to get certified in Yoga for BJJ. If I get the certification I plan on putting that on my profile for sure
