So my current favorite pair of training shorts are my Phalanx ones. They are the perfect blend of light, stretchy, and balance between form fitting and not too loose. I like their length too, as I prefer shorts that fall just below mid-thigh. I just looked at the Phalanx site and they're a bit light on selection and size availability at the moment. I looked for some other companies but couldn't really find much. I figured I'd try here to see what you guys wear these days in no-gi training.

I'm looking for something with a shorter cut than board shorts. Light material, preferably four-way stretch fabric, and minimalist design. Thanks for your recommendations,.

I have a pair of Hyperfly shorts that Ive had since I was a sponser athlete as a blue belt and they still in great shape. no tears, or rips and they are light and only issue i ever have is that stupid draw string that comes out when i wash them.. lol.. Might want to look into them for a pair and the design are Simple... All black with just they name printed down the side.

of course i have the Verison 1 shorts.. these are the version 3.

I’ll second Hyperfly shorts. Like you, I prefer a
mid-thigh length, so Hyperfly will meet your need there. Also, Shoyoroll actually makes a great pair of shorts.

This feels slightly sycophantic given who runs this forum, but the shorts Christian makes are really good. https://www.bjjglobetrott[...]ach-shorts

I don't normally wear beach/grappling shorts, these are the only pair I own. Love the colours, love the fit. Though yeah, NOT minimalist. I don't do minimalist. :D

My favorite are the RVCA grappler shorts. Great fit and they feel to be really good quality. The shoyoroll fitted shorts are nice as well, but the quality on RVCA seems better.

Thanks for the recommendations guys! I'm eyeing the Hyperfly and RVCA shorts, and also Jiu-jiteiro. Anyone ever tried Jiu-Jiteiro shorts?
