The guy who drove a truck over people in France was also a grappler. Comp footage of him was crap, and fought dirty (figures).

Again, folks. Be careful of who you teach...

He didn't train much from what I remember.
The guy who beheaded a teacher in france was also a wrestler.

The Chechen guy? Well, it figures he was a wrestler. Since you'll be hard pressed to find someone from the caucasus mountains who DOESN'T wrestle.

Any of those areas have a strong wrestling tradition. I knew grapplers were horrible people and potential terrorists

We kinda have to be a little nutty to voluntarily do this.

More proof that BJJ doesn't magically weed out arseholes. We need to stop believing and perpetuating the fairytale that just because someone has some of the same interests as us, they are automatically not a rapist/murderer/mass murderer.

Over the years on the mat, I've encountered several individuals who where bonafide crazy, coupled with having a seriously malicious attitude, inferiority complex and problematic personal circumstances, combined with an attraction to totalitarian religious doctrines.

Whenever I hear stories like these, I double-check the names to see if they sound familiar. And I'm not even joking.

I think it takes a special breed of human beings to consistently deal with the trials and errors of jiu jitsu, but that doesn’t mean that it has to take the mentally broken to do it. Just have to read the signs and telegraphs of peculiar behaviors.

You'll rarely find a person who trains combat sport consistently without some sort of a mental and/or emotional baggage. For some this baggage is a heavier burden than others, and some have a harder time than others to deal with it. I think it's that simple. Jiu jitsu helps for most people to channel it and be functionnal, but some of them better go see a fucking shrink. ;)
