I saw this over on reddit and Facebook just now, very sad. I've known Chrissy for years (fortunately, she said she and Brian are both doing ok), so I find this particularly sad news. Though I'm very much not a competitor, US Grappling was the one comp that made me think I might give it another go. :(

Would be interesting to hear why? If it's corona then I don't understand why they wouldn't just say that.

I assume it was more than that, but yeah, I can't speak for Chrissy. You could probably just ask her (or one of the other co-founders) on Facebook though, she's been commenting on the Facebook thread.

USG was always primarily a labor of love for Brian, Chrissy, Andrew, and everyone else involved. They all had day jobs that helped support it, but over the last 15 years everyone's lives have changed, I'm sure Covid had an impact, but I doubt it was the primary or only factor.

Agreed. Andrew bowed out of operations a few years back and handed that over to Brian and Chrissy. It's not surprising at all, but it is sad as I've been involved with all of them since the first one. I even used to sell my coffee wares there when I had a coffee franchise! Those were the days.

And lord bless you for it. I used to drive up overnight to their events, grab a nap, and then be hitting the mats. Your coffee was all that kept me going more than once.

I miss getting Kona coffee every morning. I never made any money on that venture, just enough to get my franchise back but I had a blast doing it that's for sure!

Oh dang, did you have a company/stand called Bad ass coffee (or something similar?)? I competed in a US grappling event in VA in like 2006 or something and I remember going to Waffle House before my matches, having some great coffee at the venue and gassing super hard during my matches because I had too much bacon, butter, eggs and coffee hahaha
If that was you, you made a damn good cup of coffee!

Bummer to hear this. I did a couple events when it was Chrissy, Andrew and brian and they were always really cool to me and ran awesome events!
