Morning all!
What we doing for strength and conditioning these days?
Do we have any 'out there' training going on?
I have recently started 'steel bending' and really focusing on developing a strong grip (via various methods). Steel bending is not only a great workout but great fun! I would love to compete in the coming years.
I have always enjoyed training my grip in isolation, focusing heavy on pinch and grip styles. Battling some wrist weakness at the moment so support exercises are getting some focus until I am happy with that (will of course continue to maintain throughout).
Lockdown has been the perfect reason to come up with some funky ways of training I suppose. Let them rip, what you been getting done?

I have gotten rid of my wrist pains... and I'm afraid they'll come back.

By last autumn I was actually in pretty bad shape - I couldn't get into pushup position, one wrist had radiating chronic pain + sharp pains during certain movements. Clearly this several months of no BJJ is what made it go away... and I'm going to start BJJ again...

Just got a set of Indian clubs & meels.
Like most of you I have constant aggravation in my shoulders/elbows/wrists, and have heard good things about how these can help.
Now I just need to learn how to swing them...

We do three "Fighter Conditioning" classes every week. Monday is cardio focused using heartrate monitors. Wednesday is more upper body focused strength and conditioning and Friday is lower body.
We mix it up every class. Sometimes it's only bodyweight stuff, sometimes it's kettlebells and/or plates, sometimes bands, sometimes partner stuff. But most of it's timed to be to failure in each round. So if we did, say jumping lunges, it would be 1 minute of jumping lunges, 1 minute of jogging, then repeat for a set of 3 of each or 6 minutes.
And if we aren't at failure in the 3 round at some point then we would add minutes.
The results have been dramatic for us. We have to increase the amount of work each week to hit failure.

I alternate functional isometrics, super slow training (Time Under Load), slow jogging, simple kettlebell stuff, and simple vinyasa yoga.

I just randomly push-pull-carry-swing kettlebells and barbells with loads that don't make me scare of fucking up something, plus some yoga-ish thing.

Currently following SOFLETE training and pick cycles that have specific elements I'm trying to improve upon. I like to supplement my BJJ/kickboxing training with strength and anaerobic conditioning training. I don't care as much about one rep max stuff as I used to, since their applicability is rather limited and risk of injury is a lot higher. Also learning to incorporate more movement preparation on the front end and recovery protocol on the back end.

Running in soft sand, chopping firewood, SUP board squats, planks and push ups. Some great light (or not so light) training when I can't hit the gym or get to roll.
