I feel like I have had enough competitions and matches against both purple and blue belts now at least in this region to make this statement.

- Purple Belts are more technical and overall more well rounded than blue belts.
- There tends to be a lot more wrestlers at Blue Belt than Purple Belt.
- The wrestlers do really well at white and blue but then struggle getting to purple as normally purple belts are well rounded enough to deal with wrestlers who only have a couple years of jiu-jitsu and haven't yet allowed themselves to get worse in order to get better at jiu-jitsu and they keep spamming only their A game.

Blue/Purple Belt divisions can be a bit like paper rock scissors until Brown Belt when everyone should be very well rounded at that point.

Purple Belts divisions feel easier than blue belt divisions with the exception being if your a wrestler who isn't really well rounded yet. The pacing is normally a bit more relaxed and timing oriented instead of a battle of determination and cardio which wrestlers excel at.

At the end of the day competition is still very random and weight and age also change the variables of the experience you will have.

This is just something to consider if your considering competing and are worried about how difficult it is going to be if you just got promoted or are looking to compete up in ranks. Just some random thoughts that don't seem to make sense but sorta make sense.

I normally do not comment but on this, I will. You make a lot of generalized comments that are YOUR opinion and state them as truths as a whole. Your statement is a statement of biased opinion based on a limited scope of experiences. Do not forget the Jiu-jitsu world is vast. There are people from all over the world with very different experiences. Curious about your statement of more wrestlers at blue and white and struggle to get to purple. Is this fact-based? was there some survey that you did from all the matches you have done?

I have also noticed that this is at least not the first time where you make reference to purple belts and skill, almost like because you have beaten them their skill is lacking for whatever reason. Do not forget that we all have good and bad days, as I have had my fair share of "blue belt" days! I have also had some days where I felt amazing and everything was clicking. BUT never would state, my skill is better than anyone because I was having an amazing day.. Just remember the opponent or partner might be having one of those down days.

Be humble in winning and losing. Learn from your own actions, improve for yourself.

God Bless

Yea every region will be different, like the North East, Texas and California, Florida etc will be much much harder I am certain no doubt.

USA for example has a lot more wrestlers than say the UK.

At least it appears that there are many more wrestlers at white and blue and they have a good advantage over the just jiu jitsu guys who never wrestled. They have a lot more heart and determination and just a desire not to quit. It's more of a compliment than anything. It's just normally it takes them less time to get to say blue and longer to get to maybe purple and that has been my experience. As such it seems to make the divisions that have less wrestlers much easier than the ones that have more. Again thats more of a compliment than anything overall. Strengths and Weaknesses.

I am also not exactly saying that they "struggle" to get to purple belt but a lot less don't make it to purple for whatever various reasons you seem to see a lot less at purple compared to white and blue. But once they do make it to a brown belt level they are normally absolute monsters.

I also always seem to face those 10 year and college wrestlers in my last matches of the tournaments when I am dog shit tired and it sucks sometimes lol

Again its more of a paper rock scissors sorta thing where wrestlers do really well against certain matchups to a certain point. That's my opinion.

What do you mean by easier? Physically less movement? less risk of submission? In the nicest way possible, what were you hoping to accomplish with that statement? No judgement just curious.

Easier in energy usage and risk of injuries.

2 big factors that a lot of people think of when doing tournaments.

Had over 30 matches against purples and more than that against blues.

On average the purple belt matches are just way more chill and relaxed and the one common factor in that is that there are very rarely wrestlers in the purple belt divisions and even when they are they are also normally a little bit more chill by that point but still much more of a cardio match.

Can normally just take my time and relax and play the strategy game in purple belt matches. It's more fun to me at least. Blue wrestlers or not tend to be way more heart, determination an cardio fighting for their lives type of stuff. They still don't tend to breathe hardly the entire match and just push the pace until someone is out of energy and if it's them that runs out of energy first they tend to get tapped by stupid stuff while at purple there's just a lot less of the who wants it more and tapping to dumb stuff but more of a strategy based game over a fight to the death. lol

I see what you are saying. I would agree with you and say by purple belt many realize that explosiveness and stamina is excellent but not the only tool in the box. Patience can also be a virtue in Jiu Jitsu.

Yes I enjoy to taking my time and use energy when needed at certain important moments then going back to just relaxing and taking my time.

Blue belt is a lot less relaxing than purple belt in general. Again my opinion but my experience so far on average. Which fits more into my style and game plan which makes it easier for me personally. While someone like a wrestler might find it harder at purple than blue because it counters what they have been doing the past few years. That's all.

Also more of to encourage people who maybe have had a tough time at white and blue and feel like purple is only going to get worse or new purple belts that don't feel like they are ready to compete. Purple can feel like a breath of fresh air especially for 30+ divisions.

Experience is the thing that matters, not belt colour. Also physical attributes. I have a hard time dealing with a guy who has been training for less than a year. Huge, young and powerful lad and getting more technical by the minute. Would be easy just to dive for leg locks time after time, but where's the fun in that? I enjoy the struggle of trying to get him down. :D

Dont do that.... dont give me false hope lol
If your in Southern California I am giving you zero hope the above statement I made is true in that location. lol most likely very not true.

But the pacing that I mentioned most likely will be true if your over 30 and been facing mostly 20 year old blue belts. 30+ year old purple belts will feel a bit more relaxed for sure and less matches per division.
