Good topic. Most grappling podcasts are immensely boring, because the people involved are mostly uninteresting monomanic gym bros.

Best ones are.

* Lex Fridman Podcast (science, philosophy, ethics)
* Your Undivided Attention (technological disruption & its solutions)
* Popular Front (modern hybrid warfare)
* Making Sense (sam harris being sam harris)
* Your Welcome (michael malice - an acquired taste, both trolling & being serious)
* Rich Roll Podcast (spirituality, sense making, self improvement)
* Marc Maron / WTF Podcast (marc talking to everyone in showbusiness)
* Climbing Gold (fitz cahal & alex honnold talking about the heroes of climbing)
* Criminal (stranger than fiction, true crime stories)
* Decoding the Gurus (New fav. Two smart guys trying to make sense of why certain cultural big shots / charlatans are so popular)

Comedy:
Tussisööjad (Estonian only)

Popscience:

I didn't follow but apparengly Sam Harris has distanced himself from the rest of the IDW group (Peterson, Weinsteins, Pinker etc).

Did anyone notice that?

What has become really annoying is making JRE "the frontline of free speech". F that. JRE is A BUSINESS first and foremost. That's why he took the Spotify deal. To act as wanting to regulate Joe is some horrendeous act against civil liberties is just plain wrong IMO.

Behind the Bastards is great. A proper (but also entertaining) investigative journalist who mainly works in warzones discusses everything from Alex Jones type idiocy through to discussion of Hiram Maxim, Stalin, Jeff Bezos etc.

Ooo, I only listed one podcast last time on this thread? I listen to lots. Over the last few years, I've been looking to get a good range of political podcasts (mainly UK related), while avoiding the stupid conspiracy theory Joe Bro type nonsense (which seems less prevalent in the UK anyway, or at least I've managed to avoid it).

So, my main list is:

The Rest is Politics
Guardian Politics Weekly
Red Box Politics Podcast (The Times)
The New Statesman Podcast
Coffee House Shots (The Spectator)
The News Agents
The Political Party
Chopper's Politics (The Telegraph)
Payne's Politics (FT)
Page 94 (Private Eye)
Novara Media

I'll mix that up with more satirical ones, plus general comedy:

Oh God, What Now?
The Bugle
The Trawl
What The Fuck Is Going On
The Gargle
Catharsis
Telling Everybody Everything
Where There's A Will, There's A Wake
No Such Thing As A Fish
Adam Buxton Podcast
RHLSTP
Evil Genius with Russell Kane

Finally, the other main group of podcasts I listen to are more documentary type stuff:

You're Wrong About
The Rest is History
Mugshots with Michael Crick
Decoding the Gurus
Politics on the Couch
Throughline (NPR)
Decoder Ring
Jennifer Abdo

Here goes:

Bechedel Cast (Movies!)

The Mystery Show was the greatest podcast ever but it was a long time ago and there are only 6 episodes lol, but still my favorite!

The Palestine Pod
https://open.spotify.com/[...]w7CbFevmGi

Maintenance Phase is a whole podcast busting dumb wellness trends

Behind the Bastards
(There is another one called Cool People Who Did Cool Stuff!)

Urban legend and mythbusting:

You're Wrong About

American Hysteria

Science VS and Crowdscience by BBC - not always great but they've had really good ones on dreams/memory, why do ppl believe conspiracy theory, havana syndome is really crickets or something

I like thinking about the desire among humans to believe one is among the few who hold the secret answer to (fill in the blank) – the magical thinking around the wellness industry/MLMs, conspiracy theories, and cults/religions.

Crowd Science- Why do conspiracy theories exist (podcast is good, but this was great)
https://www.bbc.co.uk/pro[...]s/w3cszv5z

Essential oils debunking and MLM examination:

The Dream, Season 1
https://www.stitcher.com/[...]e/56394469

Some cult stuff:
I am Rama
Dear Franklin Jones
Guru: The Dark Side of Enlightenment
Heaven's Gate
The Gateway : Teal Swan

Humanity and stories:

Levar Burton Reads

Conversations With People Who Hate Me – Dylan Marron (How to talk to people who troll or say mean things – not always political, but frequently.)

From Our Own Correspondent (I like the way they bring a personal look at world events.)

The Moth

Welcome to Night Vale

Twilight Zone rewatch with Tom Elliot

Reveal – American Rehab - Synanon series
https://revealnews.org/am[...]can-rehab/

News-y:

Democracy Now!

Andrew Huberman podcast. Since many BJJ people are looking to optimize themselves in the gym and outside, his science based approach to self improvement is awesome. He cites to the research studies he discusses on the podcast, so you can reference them yourself. No "bro science" with him.

The only one I really listen to is "Stuff You Should Know".
I'm a bit of a completionist so I'll try to catch up on the 1000+ episodes before taking on any others.

Voluntarily: don't really have time to listen to any, but I try to check out Conan O'Brien's clips and some JRE clips. Conan has always been funny. JRE used to be cool, but lately there has been less interesting guests + he sold out to spotify, which makes me lose interest. Used to watch the misfits podcast, they had some very good discussions about modern issues.

Involuntarily:
- Harry Potter stuff... (so, so many different Potter stuff, it's exhausting)
- stuff about economics
- stuff about sustainability
- stuff about minorities
- stuff about knitting
- stuff about finnish politics
- blaah bleeh blerghh

Love my wife, but can't be arsed to pretend to be interested in stuff she's into.

The Shawn Ryan Show (Navy Seal) Street TV (LA Gang Culture) The John Bryan Podcast (Civil Rights Lawyer) Snake Diet Podcast (Hey Fatty!) Ron Paul Liberty Report (Freedom)
Shockingly, I've watched way too much Street TV on YouTube. I do this thing where I will let you tube auto start whatever video is next and just let it run at my desk at work. I end up watching things I would never get served based on my searches. I'm walking the plant for much of my day, but I make it to my desk for 15-30 minutes each hour. I spent like three days on street TV and the like. I have so much LA street culture information stored in my brain it's crazy. I was up to date on six-nine way more than my kids who think they were raised in the hood.

WTF (Marc Maron has great guests)
Savage Love (I've been a reader for 25 years)
Business Wars is great
This American Life
Dr. Death was amazing
Suspect was pretty good, too

I would have a little bit of skepticism about Andrew Huberman, I'd actually argue he is very much bro science. In a different sense to Joe Rogan, but he's definitely the go to for a lot of "bros" who try to be scientific. He has some useful stuff to say, but he is also often misrepresenting the science he is citing. My general rule of thumb regarding these things - ask yourself what his expertise is in, and listen to him in that regard only. Andrew Huberman is a Neuroscientist, so I would put some weight behind his thoughts on neuroscience. His views on exercise and nutrition, however, I would be a bit more careful before assuming what he's saying is correct. For nutrition for example, someone like Dr Layne Norton is definitely a better option to listen to.

I’ve found a few more podcasts recently that I’ve enjoyed

-FOGO fear of going outside by Ivy Le
-Jon Solos messed up origins
-Guns Guide to Liberals: irrespective of one’s view on guns, their suggested methods of preparing yourself to discuss controversial topics is very well presented. You can listen to this and apply the methods to nearly any topic.
