I am looking to buy a grappling dummy to do drills with at home. I have seen that there are plenty of decent grappling dummies' on Amazon, but before I buy one, is there any major do's or don'ts when it comes to this topic?

If I buy an unfilled one, what is the best material to fill with that will add some decent weight. I know people do clothing, but I imagine the dummy would just be super light weight with clothes in it.

If I buy a filled one, is there any recommendations for one that doesn't cost $800+? I am more in the 2-300 range right now.

Thanks in advance for replies, I love the community so far!

If you buy a prefilled one, you are basically paying for the weight alone in shipping costs. I filled mine with old uniforms and it’s plenty heavy. If you have any doubts though you can get some burlap sand bags and increase the weight but don’t think you will need if you take up all the space inside.

The dummies that I have used were usually just filled with regular cotton fabric. Any old clothes that can compress fairly easily is good, that way if it rips it doesn't make a mess compared to some kind of stuffing

I have also used a dummies that had literal chains in it
