You've heard about them. There are jiujitsu teachers who are absurdly good, but somehow haven't gotten the exposure.
This thread is about them.
First, Marco Antonio Barbosa. Based in Sao Paulo. Beat Royler and Shaolin in their prime. Runs a huge association. My friend trains under him, and he's absolutely amazed and the murderous pressure and sadism the man applies. Thing is, there's almost no English instructional material of his out there. But if you're a good visual learner, you can discover gems on the YT machine.
Second. Paulo Mauricio Strauch. Based in Rio. The man is a wizard by all accounts. Taught Caio Tera. But lays low, and doesn't care about competions. My friends who have trained with him call him a walking bjj encyclopedia, also excellent teacher.
Tell me more!

Sergio Zimmermann 'Canudo'
actually a multiple times ibjjf blackbelt european champ at master and adult...
I'd say the best guy i ever rolled with regarding gi. Super technical and still kicks the young guys asses, one of the few men who are true masters at one of my favourite techniques the guard jump. Generally does my a game with armlocks triangles and wristlocks from closed guard just he got like 2 decades more experience at it than me...
probabaly you know him Daniel since hes from Carlson Lineage
and the other guy you probably also know since he spent alot of time in Netherlands and maybe is till there ??
Eduardo Nascimento 'dudu'
Man this guy, to this day I hardly ever saw live such beautiful jiu jitsu.
I got that spark in my eyes from watching him when i was a beginner whenever i went to holland to compete. If he was there he would quickly slice through everyones guard, finish people with flying armbars, take backs in acrobatic artistic ways.
And he was even like a lightweight I believe, he would usually massacre the absolute division every time.
guy was a living source of inspiration.

Yeah I know both gentlemen. Canudo has taught a few seminars at our gym, but I haven't been able to catch them. I think he learned quite a bit under Marcelo Alonso, who was one of the main teachers of my instructor.
I remember Dudu. Indeed a wizard with a super advanced game, way ahead of whatever we were doing in those days!

Arlisson "KIKI" Melo
old school too
-IBJJF World Champion (2000 purple belt, 2001 black belt)
-CBJJO World Cup Champion (2002, 2003, 2004)
he was teaching at nova uniao back in 2006 when i met him
this guy (+/- 60kg) was manhandling mosts of high lvl competitive black belts in this legendary gym, whatever their weight was...
Shaolin always told us how great he was but he was literally living in the gym and had no money at all(come from an really poor family)
maybe the best jiu-jitsu that had been applied on me :-D (terere style guard passing, movement/diversity more than pressure and super stand-up game)
i know that he now run an association and taught several years in switzerland.

Excellent thread. Andre "Tim" Monteiro, not an old guy like the previous posts but still an amazing teacher. Did a seminar and a private with him and still use the half guard details he added. Based in New York.

Sergio “Marra” Correa in San Antonio, black belt under Master Strauch also my professor as well.
Marra is an absolute monster in a small frame. His JJ has microscopic precision, his teaching is like learning a science.
If you travel around and find your way to SA, drop in for a couple classes. Gym is always welcoming and no matter your flag Marra treats you like you been there for 20 years and you’ll learn something for sure.
