Hello all-

I have a gnarly wound right below my knee that I got from a Lamb of God mosh pit, which has since been reopened a few times while training BJJ. I have tried gauss and other types of bandages but they all fall off once I start sweating.

Do any of you folks use bandages under knee sleeves to keep them on during training? Or is there a better method for tricky areas that are in frequent motion? Apologies if this is an obvious question- I’m a bit of a newbie to BJJ.

Thanks!

Take a few weeks break. Jiu jitsu is going to be there after that. Unless, you know, you ignore it, catch a massive infection and die.

To take Professor's answer and expand, talk to your professor, explain what's up, and ask that you'd still like to dress and attend class and take notes. This will be helpful to you in maintaining your ritual of class as well as continually showing up. Plus you may find you learn differently when you are observing.

Also Lamb of God rocks lol :D

Thanks guys. Still trying to figure out what pain I should push through, and what injuries I should respect and sit out for. I appreciate the feedback!

i agree take a break to heal. it can be dangerous for you with open wound and bacteria. if the bacteria like staph gets in the blood it can well kill. take a break and heal.

piece of advice once you heal. to stay on the mat healthy, stay out of the Mosh pits. LOL

What Sean Brandle said + iodine, iodine, iodine. Before and after. Use it as an opportunity to drill positions with less friction on the knee and let your training partners know what you are about. I commiserate with needing to stay on the mat.
