Patience is a virtue, as well. I compare asking for votes in the forum to asking for accolades when you do something well. Act like you've been there before and do the work without over-stressing credit. That's a lost concept on a lot of people these days.

Remember when we couldn’t even ask for votes in the forum?
I have nothing to contribute to this conversation other than I am super happy you used that meme.

This subject really annoys me as well. How hard is it?
Read and follow the step by step instructions.
This site is full of people who assemble IKEA furniture without the instructions and wonder why the bookshelf they bought doesn't look like a bookshelf. Have you tried the instructions?

I didn't use a computer for anything other than Oregon Trail until the 8th grade, so for anyone my age or older I give the benefit of doubt. However, it does seem that there are some young folks that come here and want the whole process spoon fed to them. I also remember a few threads being made with people saying they were leaving Beltchecker because it was too complicated (which is just a little bit more respectable than leaving to promote yourself and start a weird sex cult).

I’m one of those older social media dipshits lol, so if I can get my head around Beltchecker albeit with a little help and advice then anyone can.
I do love some of these forum topics, way better that facetube lol.

I've not only heard complaining but new members feeling right out insulted and distrusted.
The golden standards, according to me (might re-post in other threads later):
Obvious promotion image (video even better) with promoting instructor (not some <2 degree stand in) easily identifiable, e.g.
*Promoting instructor tying on the belt
*Old belt hanging over sholder (tossed on ground could also work)
*Promoting instructor holding end of belt
*Promoting instructor pointing to belt (pointing in general to you could perhaps work too)
Diplomas/certificates are good for showing dates, but has been forged earlier on Beltchecker, so should be accompanied at least with pictures clearly showing you are a student of the promoting instructor (with at least 2:nd degree) who have signed the paper.
IBJJF membership cards, certificates etc. usually doesn't show who promoted you, so good here too adding pictures clearly showing you are a student of the promoting instructor (with at least 2:nd degree). If you can be found and verified in IBJJF:s BB database, make it easy for verifiers by providing a reference with link in the Promotion history comments. Not just a screen shot.
Promoting instructor has a homepage with list of everyone he/she has promoted to BB? Make it easy for verifiers by providing a reference with link in the Promotion history comments, not just a screenshot. Same goes with evidence from your promoting instructor on social media - add both screen shots and a reference with link.
ALSO, add your lineage (or lineages), in the space provided for that information! And don't forget evidence for lineage. Great promo pics is worthless without a well known lineage or evidence connecting the lineage to someone well known (preferably all the way back). Work for verifiers quickly piles up if you have a long lineage chain with names most have never heard of and none of these are on Beltchecker. It would take a lot of googling, so do as much as possible of the work for them. And always be transparent, explaining fall outs and such. Really, we're used to seing a lot of those in the sport, unfortunately.
If your promoting instructors credentials and own lineage jumps right at you right away with a fast google search (e.g. a page on BJJ) Heroes), you're good.
With promoting instructor on Beltchecker, you're also good, if your instructor also has a profile with these high standards, making it easily verifiable.
Oh, and make sure you know who promoted you. I've seen far too many instances of <2 degree BB:s "getting blessings" from 2+ degree BB:s to hand out a BB, but in some cases not attending the promotion and never even having met the person promoted. So they get no photo evidence and I've also seen diplomas only signed by the <2 degree BB. If IBJJF like standards should be upheld on Beltchecker, do not write your everyday <2 degree instructor as the promoting instructor on Promotion history.
According to the standards IBJJF claim to uphold, promotions from someone not regularly overseeing the promoted persons long term development isn't acceptable, but we all know they accept it as long as the promoting instructor is Brazilian and the money is good. So those promotions, even by a gringo, on Beltchecker should still have a good chance of being verified.

Good stuff! It might be good to edit this down and "sticky" it in a new thread at the top of the forum. (It looks like the stickied topic, "If You Want Your Profile to be Voted On," is currently locked). I know there's a helpful video for new people that I watched before I posted anything, but having a "checklist" might also be handy.
