I was promoted to black belt last night by my instructor Nicholas Brooks.
While I'm pretty extatic about this, I've gone from verified to pending. My profile is well documented but wanted to provide extra proof for those of you who knew me as brown belt.

You can check out my Instagram as well, I've been training for 9 years, had almost 200 comp matches the most recent years of which I've documented on here. overall we had 22 black belts on the mat last night for the promotion as well as a seminar by Helvecio Pena Neto.

People silly enough to do free research on Christian's weird social experiment site, that he owns, want to know.
So, they can do free labor and research your promotion and vote for you.

That's Helvecio Penna, a De La Riva black belt, known party for entering adult divisions in major comps in his 40's-50's

Haha, I see it more as helping to bring the Jiu jitsu committee closer by finding out about people and academies on the other side of the world.
I'm going to blame the cameraman for any parts of my speach that were incomprehensible.

How the system works is that all the folk who voted to verify your Brown, have been sent notifications that you've earned a new rank. They will probably re-verify you as soon as they come back to the site and notice it (like I did earlier today), thus you should be able to get the verified status back in no time. (I think you were already well past 1000 pnts earlier.)

Helvecio is an awesome guy, I went to a seminar as a blue belt so was nice that he was there for my promotion

I think this would be cool to see here as well.
Get the black belt, scribble a little emotional write-up post to the Forum, where you maybe tell a bit more personally about your journey, the promotion, how it wasn’t so easy for you because injuries/family/politics, how humble you have become, and how you feel it is just the beginning & you have so much to learn still.
I enjoy reading these! :D

Get the black belt, scribble a little emotional write-up post to the Forum, where you maybe tell a bit more personally about your journey, the promotion, how it wasn’t so easy for you because injuries/family/politics, how humble you have become, and how you feel it is just the beginning & you have so much to learn still. I enjoy reading these! :D

Post it anywhere you want including your profile. This is forum. I like reading that stuff too. Only ones I consider "thirsty" are the ones sending message requests for votes.

This is the part I felt was "thirsty". To have pride in the promotion and a longing to share it is great.
But using it as a sale pitch to get verified is what I was asking about.
The information here fits better in the belt section, rather use the forum to, like you said, write about yourself, not just statistic.

Getting the Black Belt is a huge deal in this art.. One of the last of the true martial arts that hasn't been watered down (yet)...
I know when I got promoted I wanted to run up and down the street yelling in celebration.
I couldn't of course because they beat me up so bad that the best I can do is limp and whimper and be thankful that I survived... Lol
