Bro, have you seen how many people sneeze in their hands or don't wash their hands after going to the toilet and then touch everything in the buffet there on those ships? And don't even get me started on the kids.

Also, size. It would be 100-something campers but also sharing the place with 4000 families. No thanks. I don't do resort camps for a reason and this is just a resort with added—and completely unnecessary—insane levels of pollution for moving THE ENTIRE PLACE around every night.

The percentage of surfaces covered in feces is terrifying.

I've read Christian's post on the globetrotter site about how he picks where the new camps will be. And I've watched him answer the "Hey what about a camp at here/there/wherever?" It's pretty clear to me that he doesn't actually want any help or ideas. It's where HE thinks would be cool. Not me. Not you. And if anything the question is probably one of the few banes of his existence.

If you just take into consideration the wickets that have to be jumped through for a camp - somewhere that at least 150 (preferably more) people can all roll together at the same time with nice mats and it's not too hot or too cold (either perfect weather or conditioned indoors). That rules out a TON of places immediately. Next is the surrounding area has to support 150+ people eating/sleeping/etc. And then it has to be somewhere that logistically is possible to travel to and from, live there for a week, all while not costing a fortune - cause you need 150+ people to actually pay to go. AND THEN, it has to be somewhere Christian thinks is super cool and would want to go to but also hasn't thought of yet. And if you watched his video on how he writes down his ideas, I think he's probably spent a LOT of time thinking about where all would be cool to camp, you realize: that's a really tiny needle to thread. LOL

If you wanted to do a Globetrotter camp on a boat - given what he's mentioned above. You'd need it to be something like a very tiny cruise ship that only holds 200 people plus staff. Or like a ridiculously enormous private yacht. But lets suppose you have the perfect boat - you still have to sell Christian on it. It's got to be somewhere cool. And you might need to promise him that he can drive the boat whenever and wherever he wants, or some other similar thing that really sweetens the whole thing for him. No, if you're going to make a "what about a camp here" kind of suggestion, it's going to have to be really well thought out and an absolute winner. And even then I don't know if he'd go for it since it would be something that wasn't his idea.

You ever read something and can’t tell if it’s a compliment or an insult?
If you mean my post, it’s not really meant to be either. Just the facts as I understand them.

I wouldn't know where to start with an idea for a new camp, but what I can tell you is that on a ship is a ridiculous idea.
Having served in the Navy I can see nothing but problems with the concept. I do however think it would be hilarious watching people trying to roll in choppy weather, the sea sickness would cause some great Gi colouring.

Yeah I'm also a bit confused about how to read this, especially the last sentence makes me sound a bit like a douchebag :D :D :D

About the ship idea. You are completely right that it would require a very specific size of ship, which—according to my research—doesn't exist in a location or price range that would make sense for a camp budget. I do have some quite big spreadsheets where I've run all the numbers and ideas of camps on boats and it just doesn't work out.

But hey, I absolutely do not have monopoly on BJJ camps. It's not like I invented them or anything. If anyone has a great idea for a camp somewhere, they should absolutely go for it and see if they can make it work. Just because it isn't for me, doesn't mean it's not for someone else. Clearly evident for instance by the successful cruise ship camps that exist :)

Haha ok, if this is what is giving folks pause. Not my intention to make you sound like a jerk, cause I don’t think that’s true at all. I do think you a very specific, personal vision for the camps. Which is great, that plays a massive part in their success.

Also that you’ve clearly spent a significant amount of time thinking about camp locations. I mean heck you’ve already got spreadsheets for camps on boats. Your honor the defense rests its case. Lol

All good buddy, no offense taken :) :)

And yes, I have probably done more in-depth research on camp locations and matspaces than anyone else on the planet. I have paid staff that does nothing but crawl through the internet to look for every single bit of information on this stuff that exists, so I'm difficult to surprise with any new ideas haha :D
