I am new to beltchecker, so excuse me if this is already covered someplace. My name and photo have been verified, I’m waiting to get my belt verified, which is a new brown belt. I’ve been told that my professor needs to fill out his profile, but my question is, does he in turn- in order to be verified- need his professor to verify who he is or is it sufficient for him to upload a photo of a bill so he can verify who he is. The reason why am asking is because his professor is somewhat of a big shot in the IBJJF, and it is very unlikely that his professor is ever going to sign off on my teacher being on beltchecker. All I need is for my professor to establish who he is but I hope that is not dependent on him in turn needing to get verified by someone else. Does that make sense?

Neither your professor nor his needs to have a verified profile. While that can help, a well documented profile will be verified on it’s own merits.

So, if I hear what you’re saying, he needs to fill out his profile, but his profile being complete is not dependent on his professor signing off on him?

Your instructor or his instructor are not required to be on here to get you verified.

All you have to do is provide enough proof.

R. David, so I asked my professor about filling out the profile, he thinks he did it already although the site says he hasn't. You mention if I have enough proof, I don't need his profile. What type of proof would that be? I have photos of my competing at each of the belts.

I even just got registered to compete at World Masters at brown belt although it's through another black belt from my gym. But I have a screen shot of the completed registration.

Trust me, you have enough evidence! If I would upvote you (once you've put it in your promotion history as evidence), you're quite safe from downvotes actually.

Harold being a Megaton BB is proven by e.g. https://ibjjf.com/events/[...]ampionship .

Harold promoting you is proven by the screenshot which I previously posted in your other thread (https://www.beltchecker.c[...]p;id=62005).

So just add that screenshot to your promotion history under brown belt together with the link (for verification of authenticity of screenshot). After I've added my points you'd be more than half way to verified status, which you'd probably reach quite quickly.

Edit: As you've already collected further evidence for purple belt too, I'd suggest you add that to your profile as well. Even if it's not your latest belt, it shows you've put in some effort and that you have a well documented history as well, which strenthens the promotion history as a whole.

I think I joined Gracie Humaita Phoenix when I was a blue belt. Which would’ve been in 2017 I believe.
I understand your point but the academy you belong to is not a GH Affiliated academy.
No one wears the patches and it is not listed on the GH Team list of academies.

Whether or not you compete under the banner is another matter completely.
Anyone can compete and rep GH as long as they register as GH and someone from the team signs their USBJJF, IBJJF etc application.

That makes sense. NWMA is not an official GH affiliate. This last week, one of the black belts of NWMA - Coos Bay signed my IBJJF membership paperwork and so I will be representing NWMA Coos Bay when I compete. So my affiliation spot is empty.

Quick tip. You do not need to have the picture holding the note as your profile picture. You can use what ever picture you want of your self as long as your face is clearly visable and you're the only one in the picture.
Go to

View full profile > Edit profile > Hide/Show menu > Profile picture.
Here you can add what ever picture you wish. Maybe a nice close up one while you wear a gi.

View full profile > Edit profile > Hide/Show menu > verify profile picture.
This is where you should have the picture with the beltchecker note infront of you. (The one cutently in your profile picture.)

Just a small tip. 😁

Honestly, it is pretty easy to get verified, if someone's legit on his/her belt, just need to put some pictures of graduation or with your coach with the right belt.
Welcome on the site by the way ;-)

I got the honor of casting the final vote needed. So congrats on both the belt and the verification! Getting the latter from me is according to some members more difficult than getting the belt itself ;-)
