How much yoga is too much yoga? Is there even such a thing? How much yoga do you do?

Not sure if there's such a thing as too much yoga, as long as you're still able to be active in bjj.

But, since we're on the subject, why yoga? What's your goal when you do yoga?

If your goal is to get flexible, then why not just do stretches? Is part of the goal of yoga to improve spiritually?

Every time I do yoga, there's always some 23-year-old with dreadlocks trying to give me life advice while using that special "yoga voice".

I would really love to be able to get more flexible, but I'm not sure if yoga is the best route for me.

I don't go to a studio anymore. Like you, it was too overly spiritual for me. I follow certain instructors on a couple of apps. They all do Jiu-Jitsu as well.

I do yoga because I feel I move better and am more relaxed when I roll. I really enjoy the movement parts of it and the increase in mobility and flexibility. Plus, I love finishing my sessions with some yin yoga and shavasana. Super relaxing after an asthanga practice.

I try to just stretch. I followed the ATG stuff for a while. But I got really bored with it fairly quick. I enjoy the process and meditations/moving mediations of yoga. The long sessions help me with overall mental health. It takes a lot of patience and control of you mind and emotions to sit in a stretch for 3 to 5 minutes.

I have done and still do Yoga for BJJ. Sebastion is a black belt in Judo and BJJ and everything is centered around grappling of some kind. It certainly helped me a ton coming back from knee surgery to the mats.

I am also a certified instructor so if anyone is interested I have some free youtube videos of classes I recorded back in the day (2020 during pandemic) etc.
