I saw this question on Reddit. Not many responses. So, I figured I'd post this here and see what y'all think?

Which competitor has the most similar style to Marcelo Garcia, e.g. someone that plays all the Marcelo Garcia type guards(butterfly, X, SLX, etc)?
Obviously Marcelo Garcia is one of the GOAT’s and we don’t know if his level could be matched, but I’m not necessarily looking for someone as good as him, just someone that fights like him.
I’m asking because I want to see how this style translates to modern day competition and also study the fighter as I like to play butterfly and SLX.

There will only be one Marcelinho.
His style fit exactly his body type and he's born with a gif. I'm pretty sure that if he was still on his prime he could beat all the New guys on top of the game of his weight class. So clever and natural, he would figure something to counter the New stuffs coming up.

To answerd your question, i think people use some of his signature moves, adapted to their style, but i saw no one with that exact same style.

Adam Wardzinski, whilst quite a different body type, is one of the top butterfly players at the moment, and also plays plenty of SLX and X. Could be a good contender.

The closest I can think of is Jon Satava. Outside of the MG Academy, I can't think of anyone that could come close. Definitely, others play different aspects of his game, but not entirely his game or close to it.
