Thanks! Uchi mata is my favorite throw, especially from the overhook position.

It has served me well as a counter to single leg takedowns and even as a turn over on a turtled opponent.

In gi jiu-jitsu or judo, I tend to throw a ko uchi gari to force a wide stance, followed by an uchi mata (and, if necessary, a tai otoshi or a knee tap to finish, though the latter is illegal in judo). If it’s no-gi, I usually go straight to the uchi mata since I’m throwing from an overhook or underhook (with the same tai otoshi or knee tap follow-up).

I got uchimataed so hard that my legs went numb. That was also the first time I'd even been thrown. lol
