Doing all of the research to put my matches, my tournaments , and my super fights together brought me to the year 2017.
I chose to compete in adult division at Super heavy weight despite being a 34 year old brown belt.
I felt I could Win and I really wanted to test myself and shoot for the stars.
I learned a lot and am a better man and competitor for it but Didn’t have the best results…
I lost first match at pan ams. By estima Lock
Lost First match at worlds 4-0
Won one super Fight for fight to win then lost next super fight by judges Dec.
And concluded the year winning my first match at No Gi worlds then losing the next 2-0.
Rewatching all these matches stings….
I am now motivated to get myself back in competition shape and push for Masters 3 at 41 years old next year.
You either win or you learn and Im motivated to get back out there and get some wins instead of learning lessons.

Now As a 40 soon to be 41 year old first degree Black Belt I think I can go out there and do well against the other “old guys” I know I will have to reapply for Ibjjf and wait…..
What is it one year ?
Or is it two as a black belt to compete ?
I haven’t done any Ibjjf Tournaments since February 2018 where signed up for the houston Open at ultra heavy had competitors in the bracket but no one showed up in the weight class so I got gold by default.
I then did Absolute and lost my first absolute match to a heavy weight by 2 or 3 points….
I’m
Looking to get verified and get back on the horse as the Old guy competitor. Pic of me as the Old Professor teaching kids teaching my young adults but not training like I did when I was a younger man…..

Any advice ???

It seems that you're really motivated to coming back at competition, it's True that nowadays, you may not enter in high level competition if you're out of shape.
So yes, take time to be prepare, and then give your Best on the mat.

About evidences to get verified quicker, you can just complete your own profile with pictures and explanations.

You'll have to get a 2-stripe bb to sign off on your paperwork, but you should be cleared to compete immediately afterwards.

I don't care what anyone says. Age is the #1 factor after purple belt.

I allowed myself to get out of shape and focus on technique and how to win while being lazy.

Now that I am no longer being lazy everything seems to be so much easier and strangely I use less energy when I'm using energy then when I am trying not to use energy. lol Never play the waiting game in competition.
