I’m curious it seems like the same people are the ones verifying people all the time. I run into the same names when I go to verify. every once in a while I get a random one here and there.. I’m wondering, from a purely inquisitive nature, what the diversity of voting is like across the platform. Are the same people verifying most people, or is there a healthy mix? Are these kinds of statistics available? It would be very interesting to know if the majority of people were being verified by the same group of people. If that was the case.

For sure it would be interesting to see who's voting, and the numbers of verification for each profile.
I think that a lot of people just get verified and don't vote so much after it. Maybe i'm wrong...

Interesting. I am sort of random with my voting. I like to see people contribute on the forums and not have a barren profile. Other times, I will vote in lock step with others that have done most of the heavier lifting in the research of a profile.

With the app, i'm coming almost everydays on beltchecker, i didn't say that i check and vote all the time but, i make my effort to help the community.
Maybe the moderators can think about a badge for people who have verified enough people. Just to know who's doing his duty right😉

Meanwhile I started to add a comment in brackets to my vote in some cases like „(& please be so kind as to check out other profiles vice versa after Your verification!🤙🏼)“.
But even that comment is still not effective in a lot of cases….

You know what I want to know? What is the most common first name on Beltchecker? lol I'm going to guess that it's 'James'.
That one has my vote.

If we talk about numbers and statistics, i'm pretty sure to know who downvote the most on beltchecker 😉
Most downvotes result in quite quick improvements though, so might not be as many downvotes as y'all might think. The initial downvotes often result in an upvote soon thereafter, which is part of why I suspect that the suspected most downvoter (at the moment 118 downvotes, 17 700 points) is also one of the most upvoters (462 upvotes, 69 300 points) which are very much not given away, unlike upvotes from some others on the most upvoters list).

I made a quick count on the suspected most upvoter: Around 3800 upvotes (190 000 points) which is more than a third of all verified Beltchecker users! Hardly after actually reviewing evidence unfortunately.

I only vote for people I know or have rolled with.
out of curiosity, was the same thing true for your verification? does everyone who voted for you, know you? I wonder if you would still need verification if thats not the case. Its interesting, some people will only vote for people they know, but ask for votes from people they dont know. BTW, nothing against how you vote. personal choice, and i support everyone's personal decisions for doing what they do here. even that guy up there with the down vote gun.. haha

Well, it is Your own decision to do so.
But I am sure You would not have been verified if we all would act the same way vice versa.☝🏼
And by the way:
I am absolutely o.k. with Your choice of using Your individual voting-power!
-But a simple „thanks“ for others who checked Your profile and voted for You (without knowing You personally) would be a question of respect.😉

Thats the interesting /funny part. people you don't know, will sometimes verify you, so you can only verify people you do know. haha

Nope, you and others voted for my profile. I’d only have like 420 points if it was only people who had rolled with me. I wouldn’t be offended if that were the case.

I do try to make a point to respond to all the votes I receive with a thank you.

I only meant to answer the op, not come across as holier than thou. I think who anyone votes for is significant, similar to when you choose to promote someone. So I try to be really confident in who I vote for, even though my 50 points isn’t much in the scope of things.

You would not be offended with 420 points only, because it's enough to be verified as a purple belt 😉 if you were a Black belt then you will asking help as well to get the 1000pts...so on your journey you have to make "rolling friends" for 580 points😅

I'm kidding, it's your own choice to vote the way you want and nobody has to complain about it

Votes on here are only valid on here.

Has no significance outside of beltchecker and does not tie you to anyones promotion.

Do you what you will but votes have no value outside of Beltchecker.

I'll give those who can provide proper evidence a vote whether I know them or not.

When I see that they only vote for their friends and do not help others on here, I won't confirm my vote when their next promotion comes up.

That is a good idea! - I will do so, too!!!🤙🏼
I discarded my first thought just to strip off the given points because my decision to verify based on evidence didn‘t change (cause the evidence itself didn‘t change). Once a belt is verified it is verified.
But every reconfirmation is a new case.☝🏼

i do the exact same thing. ill help them once. but if they don't contribute to the community, that's it for me, i ignore the next promotion

Tie a belt around a donkey and take pictures of it. It will get my vote. :)

Come on, stop trolling.
Actually, Anthony is not trolling. I have no doubt a picture of a donkey wearing the black belt would generate the usual upvote :-)

As long as that donkey posts his lineage and whoever promoted him is a 2nd degree or more, Jonah would vote for him.

If not, that poor donkey is getting a dispute! LOL

So, that statement, combined with saying that "Votes on here are only valid on here. Has no significance outside of beltchecker and does not tie you to anyones promotion. Do you what you will but votes have no value outside of Beltchecker." Makes this whole site a very weird, self-contained, but ultimately meaningless thing.

I have no issues with people voting however they choose. But I think if most folks went mostly based off of actually rolling with whoever they voted for then it would add a lot more legitimacy.

Full disclosure - almost every time I get on here, I look in the "needing votes" section and am hunting for someone who needs 50 points or less, so that my vote is the one that pushes them over the top (assuming their profile looks legit).
