what's your guess for approximate total number of BJJ black belts. please explain briefly how you guessed this number....

Around 5 000 on Beltchecker.
Swedish: 59 on Beltchecker and I'd guess we have around 300 by now, so 20% on Beltchecker. But Swedes are often a bit overrepresented online, because of good internet infrastructure, long history of broad computer/smartphone use etc. So say 10% of BB:s globally are on Beltchecker.
That would mean there are around 50 000 BJJ BB:s globally. Would be my approximation.

I had posted before on a different thread. There was a article written that said "as of 2021, the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) had over 4,000 registered black belts. This figure, however, does not include countless black belts who do not compete or register through the IBJJF. So, it is fair to speculate that there could be tens of thousands of BJJ black belts globally."

I think the number is significantly higher. From another recent thread on this:
With 4436 black belts registered on Beltchecker, how many do you think there must be in the world? If we go by a wildly optimistic number that Beltchecker has even 5% of them here, then that means there are more than 100,000 out there.

My link to our previous post on this it was estimated in 2022 that there were around 186,000.
