Oss,

So for professional reasons, I will potentially be moving to the Greenville, NC area. My first question simply is, does anyone know of any solid gyms out there?

Then from there, with me being a BJJ influencer and just overall big personality on the mats. What would be the best way to properly introduce yourself to new teammates without coming off as "that guy" or "try hard"? I merely just want to find a solid gym where I can keep my training rolling with no gaps while also feeling comfortable as myself and not feeling like I need to switch up to fit in.

I encourage all feedback and advice. Thank you!

We have an affiliate in Norfolk, VA. A bit of a drive, probably 2 hours one way, but if you don't find anything else check out Kobukan Matial Arts.

I'd recommend talking with your current Professor / Coaches. They may know of people / have folks in your association (if you are in one) who can help you and that way you'll have a good base to pick from / check out.

For me, I moved half-way across the country (Chicago to Atlanta) and simply just checked out schools (5) and took classes until i found one that fits me and I fit them etc etc.

Keep at it and be honest with yourself for what you want etc and you'll find a great school, I'm sure of it.

Out of curiosity what do you do to consider yourself an influencer in BJJ? Also, why would that affect the way you approach the new gym? From my perspective about relocation to a new gym, be real, and be humble. I agree with John's comment above as well, be honest with yourself and your expectations and you will find the right fit.

I was already a brand ambassador and lifestyle influencer on social media before coming into the sport of Jiujitsu and not just the discipline. Once I started competing and just growing through the sport all I did was merge everything together. The lifestyle, the brands, and now the sport of jiujitsu. I promote brands, and just my lifestyle as a competitive jiujitsu practitioner. Which anyone can do, its fun and easy money to do all the things I love doing. Just uploading the content along the way.

I get it, it comes off the way it does but anyone whos ever gotten the chance to meet me or train with me can speak to that better than me alone. Thank you all for the feedback.
