Externally facing database

Hi guys,
I'm not sure if I'm imagining it, but I thought the database used to be visible to random users (general public). I ask as we used this link as an alternative to the lineage page on our website.
If it isn't a thing (and never was), is it possible to have a subset of your profile visible to external users? Obviously not everything contained in one's profile, but an overview to show history, club, etc.
If it was a thing, and is now gone, may I ask why?
I'd rather not have to duplicate effort in updating beltchecker and website pages, for the 1% of people who want to know this information.
Cheers and happy rolling!

I believe Christian disabled it due to privacy/security issue. It was a feature at one point but it was removed for the time being. I know he mentioned it in a prior forum post at one point recently. If memory serves, he said it will come back eventually, but it is disabled for the time being.
Maybe he can chime in when he can.

It's a temporary measure because our server has been bombarded with ddos attacks, so it crashed the website quite often. We are currently working on strengthening security and stability behind the scenes and will then re-enable public profiles 🙂

The ddos attacks were from all the people Johan has disputed.

Once the system can handle it I would expect a check box to make "public" and you might be able to select different sections of your profile. Sounds like some reverse proxys might help, I am moving to this one: https://nginxproxymanager.com/

Saw this post and wanted to offer some help if needed. I work in the software engineering space as a DevOps engineer. I can code, but my main skill set is CICD, cloud infrastructure and security type stuff. If there's anything I can help with let me know.

No ddos needed for that. They just need to try to login at the same time and it will have the same effect ;-P
