I'm 55 yrs old (56 in July) and I suffer from chronic pain from head to toe.

I do not like to take any kind of pills for pain and usually just do alot of hot/cold immersion (ice baths and sauna) to help deal with it.

Can't really ever get a good nights sleep because of it.

I work out to strengthen all the areas that hurt but I never seem to get any of it under control.

I've had back and knee surgery and I work damn hard to stay active but sometimes I can barely walk or lift my left arm.
Just basic things. I can train for a long time when I get warmed up but regular mundane things are challenging like putting a T-shirt on or tying my boots.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

I am 53...I have chronic pain but it stems from my military service. I do however face the same crap you are going thru. The basic things, getting out of bed in the morning walking the first few steps etc. I do however take my medication for my pain otherwise it would be pretty unbearable.

Now to the positive, I am able to maintain using natural supplements for helping with the pain and inflammation. Things like Ginger, Turmeric, capsaicin, oregano oil, Devils Claw. I also have a regimen of Peptide substances that I use BPC 157 and TB 500. These are great for gut health, healing and inflammation.

I used BPC 157 before and it helped me with my knee for sure.

I would inject directly into the affected area also used another injection along with it but can't remember the name of it off the top of my head. I suspect the other substance was a growth hormone.
Stuff is pricey here in Canada-stan

For the record I'm 54 and had 20+ years of racing motocross so I've lived with pain for a looong time now. :)

I've used BPC-157/TB-500 blend with good results for an injury. Expensive here in the US as well.

For the "after training" aches and pains I use Delta8 TCH and CBD to help with general inflammation. On training days, right before I go to bed I'll take .75ml of D8THC and 1ml of CBD. I use the tincture as it takes effect quickly, vs gummies. This combo helps me sleep thru the night and reduces inflammation very well. BTW I do not like the feeling of being high so that is why I take it right before I go to sleep. I've heard others say D8TCH is a "different" high vs D9TCH from cannabis, but I don't want to find out. :)

YMMV as all of our bodies are diff and you may have more or less receptors and more or less active but maybe worth a try.

I guess I'm an over achiever. I'm 48 and have been dealing with this for several years. I also don't like taking pain medication. I don't like the way it makes me feel. I'm also a pilot and have to be careful not to take anything that is frowned upon by the FAA.

If any younger guys happen to be reading this: Be mindful of how you treat your body when you're young. It has a direct effect on how your body will treat you when you're old.

46 here. A few years from the over 50 but honestly my body feels as good as it ever has.

I workout daily and focus on flexibility and mobility which I replaced my heavy rep bench/squat/dead days for. I don't ever go lower than 8 reps, but mostly stick to 10-12.

Vegetarian with low body fat and I keep focused on my diet which helps immensely. Back when I used to bulk to over 200lbs I could feel each and every single pound when doing stairs etc etc.

I have some mild pain from a heelhook in a tourney 20 years ago and some bulging discs but I've had those since my late teens and they haven't really changed fortunately.

Like others have said the alternative of not doing anything is obviously worse.

Props to anyone around our age for getting it done!

Almost 50 (in a couple of weeks). Tore my left ACL when I was 16, reconstructed a couple of years later (50% of meniscus removed). Tore my right ACL around a decade ago, also reconstructed (some meniscus removed). As a result, osteoarthritis in my knees and lower back (S1).

I want to know more about peptides, does it make a difference for arthritic pain and how long does it last? Also David, how did you get it in Canuckistan? Docs or online?

I know for a fact that it works for me. The doctor put me on these to specifically target inflammation and healing. "Arthritis" literally means joint inflammation.

So how long does the pain relief last from one injection?
in my experience, i have never done just one injection. I was on a specific amount for a 3 month time. Some have said they have quicker results than others, it took a short period of time before I noticed anything. Maybe others that have tried could answer that.

I injected everyday 2x a day for two weeks
Bpc 157 and Sermorelin.

I would inject right at the injured area. (knee)

Was enough to get me back on the mat but still had pain. Just not debilitating pain.

I need surgery

It's part of the journey. "The gentle sport" ... I'm 57.

I have a shoulder that needed surgey when I was a blue belt 14 years ago. Has hurt every day since. Just dislocated my pinkie finger a few times: again. My big toe on my left foot is still a constant agony since re-breaking last year.

Knees, ankles (on and off for years), and my left hip (couple years now) and I just popped a rib this weekend.

But, I'll rest and heal in the grave I guess 😆!

This journey is leading me to disability.😂😂
Sometimes people ask me about injuries in BJJ. I tell them I've never been injured, I've just added to the list of permanent minor disabilities.

53 here 20+ years on the mats it seems like we all have the same injuries. I’ve had shoulder surgery. Torn PCL. Multiple concussions. But all of that? The arthritis! The knee pain and neck pain is unbelievable. Going to look into Peptides, but I live on an island and have limited resources here

Tried to get me some of that. FDA Banned it for Human Use about 5 months ago and thus couldn't get it through my TRT provider. Don't exactly trust random internet sites to be legit.
Compounding pharmacies that still have stock can continue to sell the stock. The oral version of BPC 157 is not banned, so that should be still available although the bioavailability might be less it is still effective.

My Doc also told me there are some suitable replacements. The FDA ban has a lot to do with "impurities and limited safety-related information." There is also the claim of immunogenicity, is basically the body reacting to antigens (vaccine). One thing that I feel caused this were the studies that showed BPC as treatment for COVID-19 and big Pharma pushing back.

"BPC 157 have demonstrated substantial positive healing effects for various injury types in various organ systems. Theoretically, in early stages of the infection, BPC 157 may obstruct viral replication, improve blood vessel integrity, and suppress the onset of virus-induced cytokine cascades. In late stages of the disease, it may facilitate recovery of damaged tissues from severe COVID-19." From the National Center for Biotechnology Information.

Rolled pretty hard last night and then taught a No Gi class.
Can't even lift my left arm or let it hang naturally and walking this morning is a challenge.
Did sauna and ice bath before and after training. Felt good.
Woke up broken.
I'm at work (construction) and I am definitely the slowest man in all areas today. (again)
Iced this morning and took an Alleve for the pain. Not really helping.

Like i said above i am a firm advocate of natural as i listed above. I also use Arnica for more immediate relief. We buy a roll-on that is available most places.

One of our black belts that also happens to be the oldest rider on the PBR tour and a multiple time American Ninja Warrior competitor recommended some stuff called Optiwize that he and some other bull riders have had good success with. I ordered a bottle of it and will report back the results.

After I saw the dr about my hips a month or two ago he prescribed Celebrex. I don't think it's really done anything for me, but I'm going to do the full prescribed run before passing judgement on it.

Systems in place to diagnose and treat “pain” are based on information and knowledge that is sometimes decades old. Question: what the largest organ in the body? Answer: fascia. You would be surprised the number of health professionals that don’t know this or what it’s recent discovery means for individuals participating in impactful sports like BJJ. Why are you so stiff in the morning? Fascia develops at night restricting and building up everywhere especially injured areas. Before trying medications or strategies used to relieve muscle pain run the pipe on a few techniques used to relieve fascial restrictions and pain.

Oh man, I was hoping it was like an injection a month and relief for a few weeks each time.

At 61 with a high mileage body I think chronic pain is the one constant in my life.

Between various forms of KB and MMA I have 119 professional fights and more grappling matches than I could count but the real killer is all the hard rounds in the gym getting ready. I have broken the Atlas in my neck and have had compression fractures on C 3& 4 along with several bulging disks. I need shoulder replacement and full knee reconstruction also have CTE ..

I don't believe in taking things for the pain but do a lot of ice baths and hot whirpool sessions my body seems to respond the combination along with mobility work. I go for acupuncture and deep tissue massage along with ART.

The funny thing is staying active I have less pain than when I am forced to take time off
