I'm starting up a new gym and would love to hear from everyone about tips, tricks and general do and donts. If you're an owner what platform do you use for keeping track of memberships and what do you think about it?if you're a student, what do you look for in a quality gym.
Thanks in advance for the responses.

I've utilized Zen Planner and Kicksite. Both are good for tracking attendance etc, but Zendesk also does billing etc. Zendesk is expensive, but it handles everything from SMS messages and email funnels to attendance tracking etc.

We've started using Matspace from beltchecker for the social aspect and community communication instead of FB groups. They worked really well years ago but have turned into a ghost town so we stopped using them.

if you have more questions feel free to reach out....

I use zen planner for my school. Billing, communication, and tracking any metric you may need. Making an LLC will help protect your personal assets. Start a bank account for your business separately and link it to a QuickBooks account to make categorizing expenses and income a breeze.

Zen Planner is what the academy I go to uses. They've been using it for several years, so I guess it does OK. The only issue I know of first hand is that it won't send emails to several of the legacy free email providers like hotmail and yahoo. There are still a few of us old geezers out there using those.

I use mybjjcloud for billing and software. Very affordable and family run by a family that actually train and own their own a academy.

We used "Visma" at a gym I helped manage. Pretty great service actually. Might use it again if I had to start my own gym.

Look at you guys being all professional.

I leave an open tin of money next to the mats and assume people are paying.

On a serious note, good luck dude, enjoy.

That's hilarious. We used to use a system similar to old school library cards and a Dewey decimal system. It's a wonder Professor Fabio ever made any money. Good thing we have integrity on the mats lol.

I've used a google spreadsheet since I started my club back in 2014. I've yet to be convinced that it's worth paying for something better. Though I'd be tempted if my club ever got well beyond 100 members (my numbers usually hover somewhere between 70 to 80 something, which gets me enough of an income that I'm happy).
