Only shared this with some people but have been doing this since purple belt and have refined it a lot since this video. I've used this in many live rolls, and also in competition and it works. VERY important you have a solid armbar defense, and also are very proficient in the hitchhiker escape. As you see this is set up from inside the armbar, so you need to time this properly. Again your fallback if shit hits the fan is the hitchhiker and need to hit that immediately if you lose this.

Some adjustments on this is you need the gable grip and not the bicept grip on the defense so you can release and regrab quickly. When i get under the leg closest to the hip, i now regrab as they will be yanking on it. You then grab the submission and i now get on my side and force the foot into the opponents hip, which forces them onto their side with their back more exposed to me.

Higher belts you most likely will get the sub once, but then they won't fall for it again. I've noticed they straighten the leg and fall back to get pressure off the lock, in which i come up into side control. Again if you miss it, hitchhike immediately.

I like it, slight danger of feeding attacker a triangle, but then again you're in an armbar.

Correct definitely DO NOT get up if you don't have the grip, but i also recommend being ready to shrug escape the triangle.

I do something similar when they have knee on belly on me.

If they are on my right side my right arm goes under their shin or ankle and as I pull it towards my chest I rotate my upper body to meet it half way. Then my left hand catches the toes and my right hand locks on figure four to my left wrist and I crank the toehold towards their crotch. Friggin hurts when it's done quick.
